This song is from a Publix ad but I like it.

Sliding in with a lovely Bob song from 60 years ago. Marcus Mumford and Oscar Isaac do a nice version as well. I'll leave you with that one as well.

This is one of the songs that made me fall in love with my hubby. I'd never heard it and he played the album for me. For those of you who don't know, my name is actually Susan.

I like this sassy girl! She doesn't take shit or prisoners. And Dolly Parton likes her.

My dear Sara was a Deadhead and this was her favorite song.

This is a song from a young lady in Tennessee that I saw in 2020 on a show on PBS called Song of the Mountains. She was a kid, dressed in eclectic clothes, belting out songs and playing the uke. A few days later, I mentioned her of Facebook and a friend invited me to go see her in a small venue nearby.

So we went on the day before the lockdown began. She was quite good and since then, I have followed her on social media. She turned 18 last year and is coming into her own as a singer and songwriter.

I give you EmiSunshine!

I have to admit that I'm old and do not listen to anything trendy. My idea of good music is classic rock from the 1960s and 1970s. I also love folk music and bluegrass. This brings me to Rhiannon Giddens and her version of American Tune by Paul Simon. The other night, there was a wonderful tribute to Paul on CBS: Homeward Bound: A Grammy Salute to the Songs of Paul Simon with a star studded cast singing the songs everyone my age knows. '

Paul and Rhiannon sang American Tune. I can't find a good version of them singing together on You Tube yet but here is a good one of Rhiannon singing the song at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.

Rhiannon Giddens is an amazing woman. Read about her at Wikipedia.

I have been on a Bob Dylan jag for quite a while. I think it might have to do with the political climate AND he has good titles for stories and one liners that make my fic thoughts pop.

Here is one of my favorites: Desolation Row

I am a Parrothead and have been since Come Monday in 1974.

This is a version of Southern Cross that he used to do at concerts. I haven't seen him live since Sara died and probably never will again.

The absolutely beautiful ending to Peter Jackson's Tolkien movie. Billy Boyd's sweet voice singing The Last Goodbye. I cannot watch it without weeping. These movies saved my life in ways I could never have dreamed. They brought me the people who became my family and who saved my life in my darkest hours. I may have other fandoms but none will ever mean what Tolkien has to me.

This is a fanmade Stony vid and has Endgame spoilers. The song is See You Again featuring Charlie Puth from The Fate of the Furious soundtrack.

Probably NSFW. I like Trent and his music and used to write by it quite often. This was Sara's favorite.

Heard this today as I rode home from a fruitless trip to Elkin and it pleased me.

Did anyone see Inside Llewyn Davis? It was a wonderful little movie about a folk singer played by Oscar Isaac(Poe Dameron in the Star Wars movies) and this is one of the songs he sang. He is doing here in concert with Marcus Mumford, another wonderfully talented young man. The song is called Dink's Song or Fare Thee Well and is an old folk song.

Bob's genius blows me away every time i listen to his songs. He once told Ed Bradley that those early songs were 'almost magically written'.

Here is a little magic for you.

since Neil Diamond announced his retirement last week due to Parkinson's disease, I thought I'd share one of my favorites. It is not as well known as the others but it is a very powerful song. Neil is certainly done too soon!

Done Too Soon

"Done Too Soon"

Jesus Christ, Fanny Brice
Wolfie Mozart and Humphrey Bogart
And Genghis Khan
And on to H. G. Wells

Ho Chi Minh, Gunga Din
Henry Luce and John Wilkes Booth
And Alexanders King and Graham Bell

Ramar Krishna, Mama Whistler
Patrice Lumumba and Russ Colombo
Karl and Chico Marx
Albert Camus,

E. A. Poe, Henri Rousseau
Sholom Aleichem and Caryl Chessman
Alan Freed and Buster Keaton too

And each one there
Has one thing shared
They have sweated beneath the same sun
Looked up in wonder at the same moon
And wept when it was all done
For bein' done too soon
For bein' done too soon
For bein' done

Just saw this today and found it sweet...While waiting for Green Day, the 65,000 people sang...and the camera and mics captured it all.

Yesterday we watched a special on PBS about Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and I was quite amazed. So I chose a song from that wonderful 50-year-old this month album to share with you.

I give you Within You Without You featuring George Harrison.
