Music Monday!

I have to admit that I'm old and do not listen to anything trendy. My idea of good music is classic rock from the 1960s and 1970s. I also love folk music and bluegrass. This brings me to Rhiannon Giddens and her version of American Tune by Paul Simon. The other night, there was a wonderful tribute to Paul on CBS: Homeward Bound: A Grammy Salute to the Songs of Paul Simon with a star studded cast singing the songs everyone my age knows. '

Paul and Rhiannon sang American Tune. I can't find a good version of them singing together on You Tube yet but here is a good one of Rhiannon singing the song at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.

I like the idea of music Monday. I think I shall adopt this myself

Here is the template I use for those daily posts. I can't remember where it came from but I changed it to git me.

Sunday - Give thanks. Talk about something in your life you're thankful for. Even if it's tiny.
Monday - Music Monday. Anything about the music you listen to or like; artist profiles, recs, reviews, anything
Tuesday - Artistic stuff like fiction writing or writing of any sort, knitting, sewing, carpentry... whatever you do or have done.
Wednesday - Reading
Thursday - Throwback Thursday. Childhood memories, old photos, old blog posts...stuff from the past
Friday - Fandom stuff. Faves, new ones, actors, musicians, anything you're a fan of want to talk about.
Saturday - somebody, anybody. Your best friend, the Pope, Julius Caesar.. anyone at all

Got to see her as part of the Carolina Chocolate Drops many years ago in Perth and she, and they, were incredible. My favourite story was the about the possible origins of Dixie; that it may have been a black family who lived close to the credited writer that were actually responsible for much of what was written and has become the unofficial anthem of the south.
