Thanos



Thanos (UK: /ˈθænɒs/, US: /-oʊs/) is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character, created by writer/artist Jim Starlin, first appeared in The Invincible Iron Man #55 (cover dated February 1973). Thanos is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe and has clashed with many heroes including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men.

The character appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Damion Poitier in The Avengers (2012), and by Josh Brolin in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019) through voice and motion capture. The character has also appeared in various comic adaptations, including animated television series, arcade, and video games.

Nebula



Nebula is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Roger Stern and John Buscema, the character first appeared in The Avengers #257 (July 1985). A pirate and mercenary operating in outer space, the character has frequently appeared as an enemy of the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and the Silver Surfer.

Nebula has appeared in various adaptations of the Marvel comics, including animated television series and video games. Karen Gillan portrays the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy and its 2017 sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. She reprised the role in the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War and will do so for the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame.

Groot



Groot (/ɡruːt/) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in Tales to Astonish #13 (November 1960). An extraterrestrial, sentient tree-like creature, the original Groot first appeared as an invader that intended to capture humans for experimentation.

The character was reintroduced as a heroic, noble being in 2006, and appeared in the crossover comic book storyline "Annihilation: Conquest". Groot went on to star in its spin-off series, Guardians of the Galaxy, joining the team of the same name. Groot has been featured in a variety of associated Marvel merchandise, including animated television series, toys and trading cards. Vin Diesel voices Groot in the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy, its 2017 sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and reprised the role in the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War and will do so again in Avengers: Endgame (2019) while Krystian Godlewski played the character via performance capture in the first film. Since his film premiere and animated series debut, Groot has become a pop culture icon, with his repeated line "I am Groot" becoming an Internet meme.

Nick Fury



Colonel Nicholas Joseph Fury is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer/artist Jack Kirby and writer Stan Lee, Fury first appeared in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 (May 1963), a World War II combat series that portrayed the cigar-chomping Fury as leader of an elite U.S. Army unit. A popular character over a number of decades, in 2011, Fury was ranked 33rd in IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes,[1] and 32nd in their list of "The Top 50 Avengers".[2] He has sometimes been considered an antihero.

The modern-day Fury, initially a CIA agent, debuted a few months later in Fantastic Four #21 (Dec. 1963). In Strange Tales #135 (Aug. 1965), the character was transformed into a spy like James Bond and leading agent of the fictional espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D. The character makes frequent appearances in Marvel books as the former head of S.H.I.E.L.D. and as an intermediary between the U.S. government or the United Nations and various superheroes. It is eventually revealed that Fury takes a special medication called the Infinity Formula that halted his aging and allows him to be active despite being nearly a century old.

Nick Fury appears in several Marvel series set in alternate universes, as well as multiple animated films, television shows, and video games based on the comics. The character was first portrayed in live action by David Hasselhoff in the 1998 television movie Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Samuel L. Jackson later signed a nine-picture deal to portray the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, first appearing in the 2008 film Iron Man.[3][4] Jackson also cameos in two episodes of the related Marvel television show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the first season. A version of the character appearing in Marvel's Ultimate Marvel imprint was based on Jackson's appearance and screen persona, well before he was cast in the role.[5] The recognizability of the character portrayed by Jackson in the films later led Marvel to retire the original character, replacing him with his African American son Nick Fury Jr., who like the Ultimate Marvel version is patterned on Jackson.

Maria Hill



Commander Maria Hill (/məˈraɪə/ mə-RY-ə) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. As the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., she appears in various storylines which often feature the Avengers or members of that group. She was featured in the late 2000s "Civil War" and "Secret Invasion" miniseries, and the monthly Iron Man series, in which she was a prominent supporting character during the "Dark Reign" and "Stark Disassembled" storylines.

Maria Hill is portrayed by Cobie Smulders in the films The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home and the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Sharon Carter – Agent 13



Sharon Carter (also known as Agent 13) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. She is usually depicted as a secret agent and an ex-field agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. under Nick Fury and the love of Captain America, Steve Rogers's life, as the superhero has stated in the comics.

In the original comic book continuity, Sharon was the younger sister of Peggy Carter, the wartime love interest of Captain America. She was later retconned as Peggy's grand-niece because of the unaging nature of comic book characters.[1]

Sharon Carter appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, portrayed by Emily VanCamp.

Captain Marvel



Carol Susan Jane Danvers is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gene Colan, Danvers first appeared as an officer in the United States Air Force and a colleague of the Kree superhero Mar-Vell in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 (March 1968). Danvers later became the first incarnation of Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel #1 (cover-dated January 1977) after her DNA was fused with Mar-Vell's during an explosion, giving her superhuman powers. Debuting in the Silver Age of comics, the character was featured in a self-titled series in the late 1970s before becoming associated with the superhero teams the Avengers and the X-Men. The character has also been known as Binary, Warbird and Captain Marvel at various points in her history. She has been labeled "Marvel's biggest female hero" and "quite possibly Marvel's mightiest Avenger".[2] In 2012, Danvers' incarnation of Ms Marvel was the highest ranked female character (at #11) on IGN's list of the "Top 50 Avengers."

Danvers has been featured in other Marvel licensed products including video games, animated television series, and merchandise such as trading cards. On March 8, 2019, Marvel Studios is scheduled to release a live-action film featuring Danvers, titled Captain Marvel and starring Brie Larson. Larson is also scheduled to reprise the role in Avengers: Endgame.

The Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnes)




James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Originally introduced as a sidekick to Captain America, the character was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (cover-dated March 1941) (which was published by Marvel's predecessor) as the original and most well-known incarnation of "Bucky".[1] The character is brought back from supposed death as the brainwashed assassin Winter Soldier (Russian: Зимний Солдат, translit. Zimniy Soldát; Belarusian: Зімовы Салдат translit. Zimovy Saldat; Uzbek: Qish Askari translit. Kish Askari), and later assumed the role of Captain America when Steve Rogers was presumed to be dead.

IGN listed Bucky Barnes as the 53rd greatest comic book hero of all time stating that after Robin, Bucky is easily the most iconic superhero sidekick of the Golden Age and describing him as one of the central players in the Marvel Universe since his role of being Captain America.[2] IGN also lists Bucky as #8 in their list of "The Top 50 Avengers" in 2012.[3] Sebastian Stan portrays the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, and Avengers: Infinity War.

The Vision or Vision



The Vision is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is an android and a member of the Avengers who first appeared in The Avengers #57 (October 1968). The character is portrayed by Paul Bettany in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron, the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War, and the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War. He is loosely based on the Timely Comics character of the same name.

Falcon



Falcon (Samuel Thomas "Sam" Wilson) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan, and introduced in Captain America #117 (Sept. 1969). As the superhero Falcon, Wilson uses mechanical wings to fly, granting him limited telepathic and empathic control over birds. Following Steve Rogers' retirement, Wilson becomes the newest Captain America and leader of the Avengers.

Wilson's deceased nephew was the Incredible Hulk's sometime-sidekick Jim Wilson, one of the first openly HIV-positive comic-book characters. Jim Wilson's father Gideon Wilson would go on to join the Gamma Corps. Sam also has parents named Paul and Darlene Wilson, a sister named Sarah Casper, a nephew named Jody Toby Casper,[1] and an unnamed niece.

Anthony Mackie portrays Sam Wilson / Falcon in the 2014 Marvel Studios film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and reprises his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Ant-Man (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and is set to reprise his role in Avengers: Endgame (2019).
