Hope you all had a nice Easter. We did. That's it for March! NOt sure if I'll do April or not.
alexcat: (Default)
Well, all that's left to cook is deviled eggs. We're having ham, potato salad, deviled eggs, rolls, carrot cake and maybe broccoli. Shina, Lydian and my Aunt Janie are coming. We have Lydian's Easter Basket too. And chocolate!

I got my OEAM Big Bang all ready to post Monday. I have my Writer's Choice ready to post Monday also. I still have to come up with a prompt for April. I also got my B5 update done yesterday as well.

As soon as Lydian's spring break is over, it's time for me to finish watching all of Season 10 of SG-1 and Arc of Truth then begin my Scifibigbang story. I have a prologue and a very arteamy lvoe scene that I may or may not use.

Tomorrow is my last day this month and I have to admit that even though I've been pretty slack at times., I do really enjoy doing a post every day and wish we had more people posting. I have pretty much stopped posting anything much at FB but some forward-y thing and I like the games. I wish folks would come back here.

Anyway, goodnight!

I'm late
I'm late
For a very important date.
No time to say "Hello."
Goodbye.
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.

We kept Miss Lydian today. She and I played ponies and blowed bubbles on the porch. I am soo tired!

The fun never ends and this week it was expensive as well... not sure why. Just needed a lot of food. I did get Lydian a dress for Easter and it's cute. We have Lydian tomorrow since her mom is still in class and Lydian is on spring break. She might stay with us next week too. I may go hang out with my friend Shirley on friday. Saturday is cooking and so's sunday when Shina and Lydian come to see us.... and the Easter bunny will leave Lydian a bucket of things here too.

Busy days coming up so I guess I'd better go on to bed.

G'night!

Of March!!!

What did you think I meant?

I can't think of much to write tonight. I'm beginning to bore myself. I do better with fiction months or pictures. My life is simply not interesting enough to write something witty every day. I don't have THAT much wit! Or wisdom!

I am tired. I am stressed and I'd give my kingdom for one more good night's sleep someday. When I'm busy I wish I had time to write and such and when I have that time, I play Bingo and Song Pop! Argh!

Well, anyway, I posted today and didn't forget it. That's something anyway!

Love to you all!~

I'm in a crappy mood and I don't want to talk about it.

The last couple of days have been pretty busy for me.

Wednesday, I spent most of the day with a school friend that I met back up with last summer at Walmart - turned out she'd retired and was at home as I am so we've been visiting and chatting on the phone. Another old friend was coming up for lunch so we met her and a girl I didn't know and had a nice lunch then Shirley and I did some shopping and some driving around.

Larry dropped me at Walmart for some groceries while he ran another errand and I met up with my aunt and we shopped then she went with me and Larry to lunch. It was nice.

Tomorrow, I might have a PJ day... I need to do some laundry and some house chores and work on edits for my Big Bang and work on Writer's Circle too. Maybe watch some more SG-1 so I can get my minibang started... or maybe nothing at all!

Not much of an update. It's late and I'm really tired out.

Night all.

I considered putting this behind a cut but decided not to.

~~~
With religion at the forefront with a new pope, I decided to say this.
I don't argue religion with people much. I am a Christian, one of what Facebook folks call The Christian left. I am not a fundamentalist nor an evangelical Christian. I am Pro-choice and I favor marriage for anyone so inclined to marry. I oppose religion taught in public schools, any religion except as an academic study. It is the place of the family to provide their children with religious instruction or if they desire a religious school, then they should pay for it without my tax dollars doing so.
I expect that most Christians fall into this category.
I get offended and pissed off when (insert whatever group you like here) insists on blaming all the faults of modern society on Christianity. Christianity is corrupt but not all Christians are. I think your religion is bullshit as well but I don't tell you that every time I turn around. I am offended that you feel it's fine for you to insult my religion but woe to anyone who says anything about yours or even worse about SCIENCE.
I am totally sick of hearing how grand science is and how Christians don't believe in science. Are you all really that stupid? In the first place, I don't have any problem with science and I subscribe to its theories on the origin of the universe, among other things.
What I do have a problem with are these ideas: 1)That anything that comes from science is the truth when science has changed its truths every few months for the 53 years that I've been alive. What is true today is debunked tomorrow in favor of a more advanced theory. 2)That science is always good. Science and scientists have given us atomic weapons, nuclear waste, GMOs, global warming, air and water pollution just to name a few.
Please remember that if you consider my religion total myth that I surely feel the same about yours. Last time I checked, we still lived in a society here America where one is free to practice his or her own religion and I respect your right to do so without harassment and all I ask is that you treat me with the same courtesy.
It's a crazy world when:
You can get 5 years for pirating a movie and a year in juvie jail for rape.
Paul Ryan is not drawn and quartered by someone for something.
There is talk of another Bush running for president.
Two people who love one another can't marry because they both have the same sex organs.
Christians want to burn scientists at the stake.
Scientists want to burn Christians at the stake.
People are buying guns to protect themselves from people with guns.
The United States has the highest gun ownership rates in the world and the second highest rate of gun deaths among industrialized nations.
Corporations are killing us off and don't seem to realize we are the ones who buy their crap.
Conservatives still grab their Social Security and Medicare, seemingly unaware that those are as Socialist as Medicaid and SNAP are.
The US spent 2 trillion dollars on a war that no one won and children still starve here and all over the world.
Kids can't have toy soldiers on top of their cupcakes for some reason I can't quite grasp.
Anyone would allow Intelligent Design to be taught in a Science Class.
Women in my state still are paid 80 cents on the dollar and even less on the dollar if they are educated.
I had Bailey's this morning for breakfast and I think I'll have a Guiness with my dinner and maybe even a bit of whiskey tonight. God knows I need a drink!
Caesar:
Who is it in the press that calls on me?
I hear a tongue shriller than all the music
Cry "Caesar!" Speak, Caesar is turn'd to hear.
Soothsayer:
Beware the ides of March.
Caesar:
What man is that?
Brutus:
A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.
~~Julius Caesar Act 1, scene 2, 15–19
And in other news:
I sort of have a plot outline for my Minibang. I know that the characters themselves will change this outline when they decide to do so but this is common for my characters so I'm not worried. I also started my animal story and I chose an obvious one but that's okay with me.
Tomorrow is cleaning day I guess... need to move a little dust and clean the bathrooms. I think Spring is beginning to stir a bit - my allergies are bothering me some. I have a sore throat anyway. Could be the C-Pap machine too.
I am going to set up a community for our Elf Festival soon, maybe tomorrow. I might need someone to make us a nice Elfwoodsy background. :) We probably will need a few banners and cute icons for everyone to use as well so you artsy folks sharpen your virtual pencils! If we come up with some cool graphics, we might even make a t-shirt at Cafe Press for those participants who want one. Any ideas would be appreciated! Send them along and I need an event staff also if any of you would like to volunteer... I'm hoping we can keep the work to a minimum and the fun to a maximum so everyone can participate even those who are busy but can come by now and again!
Anyway, it's after 2 am tomorrow so I guess I'd better hit the hay! G'Night, my lovelies!
I am tired tonight. Shina went with me to get groceries today and was 2 hours late getting here. She went back to sleep after she told me at 8:30 that she'd be over at 10:30 and got here about 12:30 instead. We shopped at Walmart for hours, getting back here at about 5 or so. I made soup and we ate and they went home... and I'm worn completely out!
I still have to go over my Big Bang and get it ready to post. And i need to finish watching seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 so I can work on my minibang for [community profile] scifibigbang. Also gotta write something for Writer's Circle this month too.
Sounds like I need to get busy!~
But for now, I need some sleep! Nite all!
Alice: Why is a raven like a writing table... you know, I think I can guess that one...
March Hare: You mean you think you know the answer?
Alice: Yes.
March Hare: Well, then, you should say what you mean!
Alice: I do - I mean, I mean what I say - it's the same thing...
Mad Hatter: It's not the same thing at all! You might as well say "I eat what I see" is the same as "I see what I eat!"
[a pie sprouts crab legs and crawls across the table]
March Hare: [eying the pie, picking up a fly swatter] You might as well say "I like what I get" is the same as "I get what I like!"
[whacks the pie]
The Dormouse: [talking in his sleep] You might as well say "I breathe when I sleep" is the same as "I sleep when I breathe."
Mad Hatter: Well, it IS the same thing with you!
The last few days, this is me. Everyone I know calls or visits on the same day and I am running about like a mad bunny! ON the LJ version of this you will see me!
alexcat: (Default)
Okay... some of you commented on this little tidbit in my last post soooo I got to thinking. I wish we could have a real OEAM con and all get together but that is probably more than most of us can afford right now.
So an online festival is the next best thing.
I'm opening the floor for ideas and a time to have this festival.
I am thinking a week or 2 for length and I'm thinking we could make an LJ for it. Maybe post elf stories, art and photos, some things about ourselves though no more personal than anyone wants to be... maybe even find a hotel or lodge that we 'imaginary' stay at.. run craft activities where we can post our own crafts to show off or something of that nature...
What do y'all think? Anyone interested?
I wrote a little bit earlier about the insanity in the QAF fandom when twp BNF's turned out to not actually exist at all but be the creation of a woman named Carol. The reactions have amazed me the most I guess. People have reacted with everything from 'what's the big deal' to outrage to 'oh god they're dead' histrionics.
I thought about the few things likes this I've seen,
Before I was in the LOTR fandom, I was a CATS fan and fan of John Partridge, who played Rumtumtugger in the video version of CATS. He was a handsome English boy who was, at the time, in Berlin doing the German version of RENT. We all adored him but he was the wanker in shi own fandom. After a year or so, he actually called Amy, the girl who ran the fansite and cursed her out for being his fan though another one of our group, Patty, was the real freak - she'd gone to Berlin to meet him, using money set aside for her disabled daughter's care and she had told Partridge some awful lies about Amy. That bit of wankage sort of broke that group up. I am still in touch with a couple of people from that era.
I never encountered anything else like that again until Anand/Andi. I was totally shocked that people were praising her for being honest. HONEST? Really? She'd lied and told us that she was an Indian man from London who was a doctor with a wife, a husband and a daughter. I thought she was full of shit. I was pissed that she'd wasted anyone's time with her insane fakery.
I am what I am. I use a screen name but who I am is an open book, more or less. If you want to know me better, write to me privately or read my rambles. If you ask, you get my real name and if you really want to check me out, call me... I'll give you my number. At Facebook, my real name account doesn't talk about fanfiction because many of my local friends would be traumatized by it! Go figure. I have an account for my fandomish stuff too - Alex Cat. Please feel free to friend me there.
I have met some loonies online but I've met some of the best people in the world...Luin77, Larianelensar and Spacebee have been to my house more than once, Luin77 many times. They are all wonderful people and my life is richer for them being in it and they are REAL. I have friends I've never met either but I'd love to - many of you! I wish that time and space and money were such that all of you could come to where I live for an elf festival. Maybe we should have one online!
So if you ever wonder or have questions, ask me! I will answer to the best of my ability.
