Challenge #14

In your own space, remix an existing work into a new media, and/or rec three or more remixes that do the same. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

First I made an art cover of this story: Tie Your Heart to Mine

I haven't done any remixes lately but here is a remix of one of my stories from [community profile] cap_ironman: Inspiration (SciFi Dreams Remix) by Neverever (a remix of In My Dreams by me)

And a remix I did in the same exchange: This Kiss (Kisses Remix) from this story by Navaan: Kisses

In your own space, tell us about 3 fandom resources you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom!) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

One is also a pay site but I love it anyway. I has thousands of comic books, news, information and lots more: https://www.marvel.com/

All Babylon 5 fans need to know about The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5/a> - it has a LOT of info and really good episode guide with stuff from the creator himself.

One for Comic characters of all universes is

In your own space, write a love letter to Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, creator, episode, or it could be your fandom friends. Share your love and squee as loud as you want to.

Dear Captain America,

I had no idea when I saw you in the theater in 2011 that you would change my life and maybe save it. But when Dr. Erskine opened that box, everything changed.

You see, I was having a bad run. My only child died in a car accident in 2005. In 2008, my mother became ill and then I did, spending 6 weeks in the hospital after almost dying from an ischemic colon and kidney shutdown. I was spent months after with a walker and a wound 12 inches long and 3 inches deep that had to be dressed twice a day, along with a blood clot in my left leg. My mother died in 2009 and my hubby's best friend died in 2010...

You were the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on, even better, you were such a sweetheart. I started poking around and watched Iron Man. Tony Stark knocked my off my feet, too. He was everything you weren't - the two of you were the perfect pair. I watched all the Marvel movies and was hooked on the fandom. I wrote a little Cap/Iron Man lve here and there.

Then in 2016, tRump was elected and i damn near lost the will to go on. I got so depressed that I despaired of everything. And I started writing and writing and writing. I wrote love stories of every sort about you. I wrote fix-its, could have beens and anything else I could think of. I've met one or two new folks becasue of you and Marvel.

Thanks for everything. You saved my life. I will continue giving you all the happily ever afters I can for as long as I can.

Love,
Alex

Challenge #9

In your own space, brag about yourself. Tell us what things you've done that you're proud of; the things that make you the wonderful person you are. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I am not always a wonderful person but I do have my moments.

I have managed to get through the last year without killing any of the crazy people in my area, or in my family.

I also managed to write more than 300k last year. I love to write - I love to write explicit stuff and my stories are almost always about love, not simply sex. I write them short and sweet, just like I like to read. As a result, I am inordinately proud of my longer works - my big bangs and such - because they stretch my abilities.

My Big Bangs: )

I also am pleased that I have completed another year doing Babylon 5 fandom updates every 2 weeks. I inherited that community and job from another fan as well as a rewatch community and a love month one. I have kept those going and am pleased that we still have a fairly active fandom in B5.

Um, yeah, that'll do.

Challenge #8

In your own space, create a wishlist. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I looked back at past wish lists and used them somewhat.

2 big wishes for this country and the world -
That the fascists all crawl back in their holes and/or die.
That the pandemic would be over.

Other wishes and ones YOU can grant!
1. Fanart, podfics, remixes of ANY of my stuff. My works on Ao3. I'll check my transformative work policy on my profile - I think I just want a link if you do anything so I can squee at YOUR work.

2. A fandom buddy - in the old days, i had one of those buddies who betaed most of my stuff as I did hers, brainstormed, hung out online and talked on the phone. I love all of my fandom friends new and old but I do miss having a fandom BFF. So if you think you'd like a lot more of my crazy person, come on!

Now I'm gonna post the next challenge then read your wishes!

Challenge #7

In your own space, create your own challenge. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I usually say something like be nice to one another or something lie that, but I'm take a page from [personal profile] phyncke and actually talk about a real challenge. I might even start a DW blog for it. I love drabbles... and love to write them. Some months I write a drabble a day for the whole month - some have a theme and some are random ones. But I think I will start a Drabble Challenge Community here and maybe elsewhere with a daily prompt and perhaps other fun things during the year. So I challenge you all to join me and let's write some drabbles. If you have ideas or want to join in the fun, comment below or contact me.

EDIT: I started a drabble and short fic community on Dreamwidth: https://flash-fiction.dreamwidth.org/profile

Challenge #6

In your own space, rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm going to rec my last three gifts. I got extraordinary fics this year! I can't say enough about the quality of their works. Go, read them!

Holmistice:
The Adventure of the Cardboard Hoax by pagimag. This is BBC Sherlock and it's the best story I've read in that fandom. It's a wonderful full case and is perfectly in character.

Yuletide:
Fragments by prix. The fandom is PUSH - a movie with Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning when she was a kid. They both have mind powers and are on the run from a controlling government. If you like PUSH, you'll love this.

Cap-Iron Man Holiday Exchange:
A Comedy of Errors by jellybeanforest. This is MCU and is based on Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors. It's a hoot and so well written! You'll see some other Marvel folks there too!

Challenge #5

In your own space, promote a canon/talk about a part of canon that you love. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Canon - I love canon in any fandom. But since I write slash as often as not, there isn't a lot of canon that fits that mold.

BUT I do like to write in the bounds of canon. I like to slip my stuff into the canon.

Most of the fandoms I write in have more than one canon - usually movie and books... like Tolkien and like Marvel. Both of these fandoms have a HUGE written canon. Tolkien wrote all his life on his and many people have been writing since the 1930s on Marvel canon. That's a lot to stuff into a few movies. It gives the writer tons of material though.

At this point in time, I might prefer Marvel because it even has multiverses in which reality can be almost anything you want it to and sort of still be in canon.

In summary, I love both Tolkien and Marvel canon and hope to explore most even more. I am thankful for the place to play and hide from reality.

Challenge #4

In your own space, create some goals. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Goals! Wow! Getting through the day is hard enough some days but here are some goals for this year:

1. Make some new fandom friends - maybe in the MCU fandom. BUT any fandom friends are also good! If we look compatible, feel free to friend me!

2. Write some longer stories. I have some ideas...

3. Hopefully I can get my scary surgery done this year. I need to lose about 15 more pounds. Argh!

4. Read some books. I write so much that I don't have time for reading.

Challenge #3: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

In your own space, tell us who, from one of your fandoms, would you most want to have dinner with (or tea, or a random afternoon visit), And why? This could be a creator, an actor, a costumer, a set designer, a director, a character, a composer, anybody! What would you talk about? What are you dying to know? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

This is something I seldom think about because I am terrible at talking to people I don't know in person so I'd probably just stare at anyone who I'd choose.

Having said that, today, I'm choosing Sherlock Holmes and Watson in the Ritchie movies. I think Watson would be utterly charming and Holmes would be a complete ass... and hopefully I could witness firsthand that delightful chemistry. I think I'd be able to smalltalk with Watson, maybe even talk about cases, but I suspect Holmes would only talk if it suited him.

Challenge #2

In your own space (or their own space) interact with someone new. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. No need to leave a link for this one, but if you’d like to invite others to join the conversation, please do leave one.

I'm issuing an invitation to say hello. If you fell comfy, then you're welcome to ask to stay.

I am;
writer, fan, old lady, political leftist, sarcastic when it suits me, kind, opiniony, and a lot of other things.

Pull up a chair and tell me a little about yourself, ask me a question or just say hi!

In your own space, introduce yourself! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm Alex. I've always been here. I am a fanfiction writer and my fandoms are Tolkien, MCU, Babylon 5, Sherlock Holmes and I dabble in many others. I write anything from gen to explicit, from gen to het and slash. You can see my last year's work listed here: https://alexcat.dreamwidth.org/1199803.html There is so much of it because it's been my refuge from Covod-19 and from US politics.

I don't post a lot of personal posts and I normally friends lock anything personal. I don't have an intro other than the little there is on my profile. I live in rural south of the US. I am not your typical southern redneck, though I do have quite a southern accent.

I am a HUGE star Wars fan though I do admit to preferring the original trilogy and the Legends books. I thought The Rise of Skywalker was a wonderful film, unlike what I thought about the other two. I don't write much Star Wars though that could change.

I have some health challenges and some nasty health things coming up in the near future. I may or may not share much about those things. I don't know yet.

Pleas ask me anything you wanna know... and friend me if you like.
