Challenge #7
In your own space, tell us about 3 fandom resources, spaces, or communities you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom!) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Since I mostly write Marvel Cinematic Universe right now, here are some places for info:

Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki - includes listing of movies and tv shows, characters, timelines, plot summaries. It's decent place to check facts and refresh your memory on things.

Comic Vine - I use this because the characters and stories all came originally from comic books and this wiki is huge, with stuff about not only Marvel but DC and other comic characters. Sometimes I need some backstory or a villain and Comic Vine is my go to for that kind of info.

The Steve/Tony Multiverse Ship Manifesto & the Cap-IM Slashy Moments List - This is from the Cap Iron Man Group that I belong to - a huge Stony group and since these two are my go-to pairing, there's lots of info here on canon slashy moments in the movies and in the comics.

Challenge #8

In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, a gift of your time to the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

This last year was a hard one for me. I finally ended up getting the hysterectomy and hernia repair that I've been waiting since early to get. It was a massive surgery and went much better than I had feared.

Despite that, I still did a lot of writing this year. I didn't make my GYWO 300K goal but I did write 285K and finished 108 stories. You can see them here at Ao3. I even managed to get a troll on my Marvel Bang and had to ask Ao3 to take action and they did!

My favorite fics read this year...
1. The Dick Pic 'Verse by KandiSheek - Stony and it's naughty and sweet. It has actual dick pics as well.
2. Smutlover added a new story to the Use Your Words 'Verse - Interlude
I have read a lot but those two stand out the most.

Challenge #10
In your own space, rec a fanwork (fic, art, vid, playlist, anything!) you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

The Dick Pic 'Verse by KandiSheek - This story is all in the form of texts and photos on phones and it begins when Tony Stark accidentally sends Steve Rogers a picture of his dick and from there it becomes a love story and a lovely AU of the Avengers movies. There ARE dick pics but there is so much more to this story. It's a quick read as it's all in text but still quite long. If you're an MCU fan, go read it.

Challenge #11

In your own space, Interact with someone. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Okay, so I have interacted with several folks. A new person had friended me and I am beta reading for a person I did not know as well. Go me!

I have met a few of my DW friends here at this challenge or gotten to know them better here as well as seeing some old friends again. I live in a rural area and have no real friends nearby - it's just me and hubby so my internet friends and fellow fandom folk are quite important to me. Snowflake makes it easier to meet a few new people every year.

Challenge #12

In your own space, tell us who you would recast in a film, tv series or webseries, or maybe someone voicing a cartoon or videogame. Or who would you cast to play a character in a book, comic or maybe even your own fiction! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

One is I would cast Samuel L. Jackson's voice in every Nick Fury everywhere. He simply IS Nick Fury.

I am coming up totally blank for anyone else in this one.

I vote Idris Elbe to be the next Bond.

Challenge 13.

In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, wild times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I began my fandom-ness in Babylon 5 and Tolkien back in the early 2000s, right after the first LOTR movie came out. I got into some Yahoo groups and wrote both character fic and real person fic. I got tired of the infighting among the writers of both so I made my own Yahoo group - LOTR Adult Fiction. It grew and grew and became Of Elves and Men, a website that was up and running from 2004 onward until we finally had to take it down in 2018 because the hosting site was no longer a good place to have it and I had no way to move it elsewhere. It is now in the process of being loaded onto Ao3.

I told you that to tell you this. I made a LOT of friends in the LOTR fansom and am friends with many of them to this day. From this group, I became involved in an RPG and I played Gil-galad. One day, Gil-galad met another elf named Oropher who was hungry and cold. He took him in, gave him a banana (it was all he had) and some purple socks. After a few weeks, I asked Oropher's person about herself and we became friends - best friends. She lives in Germany and me in the eastern US. Up until the pandemic, she's visited twice a year since 2005 and we've visited her and her family in Germany twice so far. We talk every week and chat online as often as we can.

Sooo - fandom has given me more than I can ever pay back.

When People talk about the evils of the internet, I have to disagree that it's as bad as they say, since it's given me so much!
