'It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door.'

I remember reading The Hobbit when I was 12 or so and being completely amazed from the first paragraph - when I read the trilogy, my amazement turned to more. It was like seeing a whole new world superimposed on this dull one. I've actually read very little fantasy since then because I'm not sure anyone could evoke that feeling in me again.

Then there were the movies. The movies are what got me into fandom, for the most part, and I've never left. Outside my hubby, my late daughter and my late mother, the most important people in my life are some of the friends I made through the LOTR fandom. And the moves were absolutely, stunningly beautiful.

I cannot hear this song without tears:

And I leave you with Bilbo's 'The Road Goes Ever On'
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
