faramirhaldir, who wanted to read some Gil-galad.
Summary: Compared to caring for children, being king is easy for Gil-galad.

Of Captains and Kings
Gil-galad looked at the two young elves left in his charge and felt helpless. He had no idea what to do with children since he’d scarce had a childhood himself. He’d gone from boy to king in short order and without Cirdan, he wouldn’t have known how to do that.
Both children were quiet and when they did talk, it was mainly to one another. He hoped Maedhros and Maglor had not harmed them in any way though he could scarce believe they were alive after all they’d been through. They seemed to be healthy and normal as far as he could tell.
“What shall we do today?” he asked them.
“Ride,” Elros said at the same time that Elrond said, “Read.” That too seemed normal for them. One liked to study and think and the other loved action and adventure.
Cirdan stuck his head in the door before Gil-galad could answer. “Anyone for a sail?”
Gil-galad sagged in relief as both young elves jumped up at the same time. “We love sailing!”
Gil-galad nodded at Cirdan. This wouldn’t be the last time his old friend saved from his own inadequacies.
Besides, he loved sailing with all of them too.
