NOT A CLUE

Indy knew that anything worth finding was normally hidden well. That’s why he’d learned so many forgotten languages and writings. He couldn’t stand to leave anything unknown.

He’d gotten the trait from his father. His father searched his whole life for the Holy Grail and they’d found it. He had seen it with his own two eyes, held it in his hands.

He’d brought many unbelievable things out of hiding and into the light. He prided himself on these things.

So how the hell did he have a son that he’d never had a clue about?

Damn Marion Ravenwood anyway!

OLD HABITS

“What?” Mutt asked his father as they waked down the darkened path.

“Shhhh. Be quieter,” Indy whispered back at him.

“Why?”

“Because you never know who or what is listening in.”

Mutt held back a sarcastic retort and quietly followed his father. They were still getting used to this father-son dynamic and Mutt might have been a little better at it than his father was. Marion thought they were both rather hopeless in the relationship department. She was probably right.

“I don’t know who you think is listening. This is the path to the garden in your own back yard.”

Summary: Marion watches Indy.

OLD HANDS

His hands weren’t those of an academic. They were dry and scarred from digging in rock and dirt for more than forty years. They were permanently tanned from all those hours in the sun. There were scars from all the perils he’d faced since he’d left home as a teen to fight in the first World War. His fingers were becoming gnarled from arthritis and old age.

Marion smiled and marveled at how gently and tenderly those old hands held their precious burden, his very first grand-daughter, a treasure greater than all the others he’d found.

She loved him so.

THE TALCUM MYSTERY

“What is that smell?” Indy said as he came into the bedroom.

Marion frowned as she fiddled with her earrings. “What smell?”

“Perfumey. Odd.”

Marian didn’t smell anything.

“You got any new powders? New perfumes?” Indy was sniffing like a bloodhound. When he sniffed close to her, she smelled it.

“It’s you!”

“Me?”

She sniffed his cheek. It was actually quite nice and manly.

“Where did you go today?” she asked.

“The barber—that’s it! The talcum powder that he used when he shaved me.”

“Oh! How nice. What’s the occasion?”

“Got a big date with my very best girl!”
