17. What is your favorite source for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)? Well, I am in TV show fandoms, movie fandoms and book fandoms so yeah. I can't tell you WHY I am in a fandom. There's something that makes me want to write stuff about them... not sure how to define it.
Note: I took the word text out because it made no sense in the sentence.

18. How many fandoms have you written for? How many have you been in, and how many are you still in? I have written in at least 30 fandoms... I include all Marvel under one fandom, all Tolkien, etc. Any fandom I've ever loved, I pretty much still do.

14. A pairing - platonic, romantic or sexual - that you initially didn't consider, but someone changed your mind. Hmm... Bucky Barnes and Stave Rogers, I think. No one changed my miond though. They just grew on me in time. Or should I say Bucky did. Shaggy, nasty looking Bucky in Captain America: The Winter Soldier I did NOT find appealing.

15. What was the first thing you ever contributed to a fandom? Not sure what the name was but it was an Aragorn/Legolas story.

16. Do you remember your first OTP? Who was in it? Legolas and Aragorn.

12. A ship you have never liked and probably never will. Tony Stark and Pepper Potts.

13. Do you prefer art, fic, or vids? Why? Bonus: If someone was to give you a fandom gift, what format would it be? I prefer fic if I'm doing it, but I love fanart as well. Never really thought about vids though there are some nice Stony ones out there. If someone wanted to give me a fandom gift, then the format would be their choice, wouldn't it?

Doing 10 and 11 together.

10. Do you have a fandom that you follow - either regularly or casually - with little to no knowledge of canon? No

11. Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don't have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
Marvel Cinematic Universe - Steve Rogers/Tony Stark, Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanov, Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes are my favorites at this time. I like Nat and Steve friendship and Bucky and Steve friendship also.

9. What's the hardest thing about writing, and why are titles the Worstâ„¢?

When I'm in the zone, there is nothing hard about writing. When I'm not, it's making myself sit down and JUST DO IT. I am easily distracted and wander away to check emails and play games. For about 4 years (the years that thing was in the White House), I wrote ALL the time. I was using it as an escape from regular life. Then I had the long awaited hysterectomy and all my desire to write sort of fled. Not sure if it'll come back though I do still write. It's just much harder.

Titles are not a problem. Most of mine either come from context, quotes pr lines from literature. sometimes the title comes first.

8. Squicks - What are some things that squick you in fandom - not necessarily "icky", though it can be. From anything involving blood, to bad grammar.

People calling squicks triggers... no ma'am, they ain't the same thing.

I once upon a time had no squicks, but things change over time and I do have some.

My squicks:
Alpha/Beta/Omega or Omegaverse makes bile rise in my throat. I have tried to read it but I cannot. I see no point in it. I don't like the dystopian dynamic and I don't like the fact that men in that verse have usurped women. I also don't care for the D/s element inherent in it. My main fandom and the place I hang out is obsessed with this crap, sadly.

Bondage squicks me - both IRL and fictionally. (That one might actually bleed over into trigger areas, to be honest.)

I don't care for mpreg unless it's done in a humorous crackfic sort of way.

Parent/child incest (not talking about kid stuff but any stuff). The brother thing depends on the brothers. The Winchesters? NOOOO Elrond's sons? Yes.

BDSM and/or D/s. Just no. Though I have read some that I could stomach, I do not seek it our to read.

Fiction that has no paragraph breaks and is posted single space - it's too hard for my old eyes to read.

No punctuation. I beta-ed for someone once who used no commas at all because she said she was a professional writer and she didn't like them. I wouldn't pay her to write anything for me. It was a mess.

7. What would make you leave a fandom, or prevent you from getting into it in the first place?

I'm not sure.

Well, there is one fandom that I sort of got out of because the author was such an ass and her books became so awful that I didn't care for them anymore. If I felt the need to read any of her works, I bought them used so she didn't make any money from them.

I LOVE Star Wars with all my heart and have since 1977 when I sat in a theater and saw an Imperial ship fly over for the first time and heard Luke whine about going to Tosche Station, BUT I have never gotten into the online fandom. SW fans are soooo nasty to one another. I write a story now and again and have done [personal profile] maythefourthbewithyou several times, but I keep my distance from the fandom.

So there, I guess I did answer that one. .

6. What's the longest you've ever been in a fandom? What fandom was it? Not necessarily your oldest fandom, but a fandom that you started and still continue to read/write/create content for in some way.
I have been in the Babylon 5 Fandom since around 2000. I don't create a LOT of content but I do run several Babylon 5 centric communities here on Dw and on Facebook as well. I also do a fandom update every 2 weeks and host several fan events during the year.

5. What's a fandom that you wish had a bigger following?

I don't really know how to answer this one. All my fandoms are aging and have less action than they used to, but that doesn't really bother me. I write what I want and read what I want. I have not gotten deeply into the fans of any fandom since Tolkien. I'm still friends with many of people I met in that fandom.

I never got into the Tumblr stuff - because who EVER needs so much DRAMA? LJ kinda died out over time and FB is not fandom friendly. Ao3 is a great archive but it doesn't lend itself to any actual interaction other than kudoing and leaving comments.

4. What are the origins of your penname/username?

My user name is very old... I made it up when I got online sometime around 1998 or so. It comes from my daughters' favorite fandom at the time - CATS, and my lifelong obsession with Alexander the Great. I have used variations of that name since then, some of them being alexthecat and alexcat45.

In old chatrooms at Yahoo, I unfortunately attracted Egyptian men who thought I was from Alexandria. Surprisingly, men who can barely type enough English to make any sense, still want online sex talk. Blargh. I was not the cat to mess with.

Someone in Russia owned the domain name alexcat and when you typed in alexcat dot com, you got a long listing of porn sites.

I forget that many of you probably don't know my given name, but oddly enough I answer to Alex in real life as well, having met several people who called me that.
(My name is Susan, by the way, if you want to use it.)

There you have it.

3. You've got your OTP, you have to throw a third into the mix (from the same fandom), creating an OT3. Who is the OTP, and in your opinion, why would they make a perfect third for them?

My OTP is Steve Rogers/Tony Stark in the MCU. (also Avengers Assemble and some comics). The third would always be Bucky Barnes. In my MCU world view, Steve and Tony belong together, but Steve can never forget his first love, Bucky. After everything shakes out, Tony is able to forgive and the three of them live happily ever after. I even have a story about that very thing: A Divinity that Shapes Our Ends.

2. Your newest fandom.

I have been thinking and thinking and my newest fandom is, well, an old one. I got into the Avengers and MCU about 2012. As far as I can tell, that's my newest one. I never usually ever really LEAVE a fandom and I have written a little in a lot of fandoms but my main ones, I have kind of stuck with.

I do watch new tv shows and movies, but I seldom jump up and shout, I want to be in this fandom. The other superhero franchises have not inspired me at all.

Having said all that, I would be open to a new fandom if one came along that struck my fancy.

1. What's changed about your fandom life in the last 365 days?

I am bit disillusioned with the MCU fandom these days. I know the OG6 movies are mostly done but there is still canon to explore and tales to tell without going totally to AUs. By AU's, I mean coffee shops and such. They're not awful but I love canon and love writing and reading in it.

Due to health problems, I have not been writing like I did the last few years. I find it frustrating but have no idea how to fix it.
