Snowflake Challenge - Day 10
Jan. 19th, 2021 07:59 pmIn your own space, write a love letter to Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, creator, episode, or it could be your fandom friends. Share your love and squee as loud as you want to.
Dear Captain America,
I had no idea when I saw you in the theater in 2011 that you would change my life and maybe save it. But when Dr. Erskine opened that box, everything changed.
You see, I was having a bad run. My only child died in a car accident in 2005. In 2008, my mother became ill and then I did, spending 6 weeks in the hospital after almost dying from an ischemic colon and kidney shutdown. I was spent months after with a walker and a wound 12 inches long and 3 inches deep that had to be dressed twice a day, along with a blood clot in my left leg. My mother died in 2009 and my hubby's best friend died in 2010...
You were the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on, even better, you were such a sweetheart. I started poking around and watched Iron Man. Tony Stark knocked my off my feet, too. He was everything you weren't - the two of you were the perfect pair. I watched all the Marvel movies and was hooked on the fandom. I wrote a little Cap/Iron Man lve here and there.
Then in 2016, tRump was elected and i damn near lost the will to go on. I got so depressed that I despaired of everything. And I started writing and writing and writing. I wrote love stories of every sort about you. I wrote fix-its, could have beens and anything else I could think of. I've met one or two new folks becasue of you and Marvel.
Thanks for everything. You saved my life. I will continue giving you all the happily ever afters I can for as long as I can.
Love,
Alex
