When I was a child and people would ask me what I wanted to be (when I grew up) and I realized my heart's desire was to be a horse. There is no creature on earth more graceful and beautiful than a horse, not even Chris Evans.

I had toy horses, I pretended to be a horse, I had horse books, I sneaked down to the neighbor's and threw rocks, not at them but to startle them so they'd run(I WAS little and dumb)... I LOVED them.

This is my favorite book from childhood:



Each two page layout has a drawing or painting of a breed of horse and a short little story about one. I wore it out and then it burned in a fire when we moved here. I found another copy used several years ago. M other favorite book was Man O'War by Walter Farley, the story of one of the greatest racehorses in history. He actually got a state funeral in Knetucky when he died and was buried like a person. My father read it out loud to me before I could read, along with Black Gold.


I loved TV westerns - not for the cowboys but for the horses and here are two of wonderful ones:

a couple of weeks ago, we saw these amazing shows on PBS - I think you can stream them. You should. They're fantastic!
