Drabbles

Indiana Jones

Ahhh, fandom stuffs!

Drabbles
I have written hundreds of them! I think they are wonderful word exercises. Can you say something useful in 100 words? I think so. I like the restrictive nature of them. I do a couple of drabble challenges a year and I also write a drabble a day for some months throughout the year. I'll probably never actually be a published author because I simply cannot use 1000 words to say what I can say in 100... and I love authors who write that way. Annie Proulx's 'Brokeback Mountain' is aperfect example of sparse use of words, though certainly not a drabble.

Firefly
The first tine I ever heard of Firefly was when it took the place of Dark Angel. I had NO interest in it and vowed not to watch it (As did many people, apparently). Several years later, someone mentioned this great TV series they liked that was cancelled after only about a dozen eps. They suggested I try the DVDs and they'd heard there was a movie in the offing. I was completely smitten with the crew and their wonderful lines -
'I could kill you with my brain.'
'Captain tightpants'
'I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, i will end you.'
The movie proved to be a jewel as well and every few years, I have a rewatch of both the series and the movie. You should, too!

Indiana Jones - I remember how wonderful Raiders of the Lost Ark was the first time we saw it when it came out. Spielberg AND Lucas in one package with Harrison Ford! It was great! It had the flavor of an old time adventure from the 40s with wonderful theme music and a hero any girl would love and any man would love to be. I actually enjoyed them all... even the bad ones. I became very interested at one time and tracked down the Young Indiana Jones tv shows on DVD - which were a superb look into history. Hubby and I both learned a lot - there were even documentaries about the real history of the time included in the set. I've written a few Indy stories and one set of letters that I am particularly pleased with: MY Grandfather's letters

Now YOU do this, too!
