Day 21 - Saturday's Person
Apr. 21st, 2018 03:25 pmUm, who this week?
Well, let's see.
Okay...
Barbara Bush - a first lady from the days when first ladies were not former nude models and soft core porn stars.
Mrs. Bush was related to Franklin Pierce and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Her father was the president of McCalls' magazines. She met George when she was 16 and they married in 1945. They had 6 children, which she raised while he was away on business in the oil industry. Mr Bush went into politics in 1966.
As first lady, Mrs. Bush founded the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, whic she remained active in as long as she was able to.
I remember and Mr. Bush in the Whoite House, surrounded by their grandkids. After 8 years of Ron and Nancy and the way they treated their children, it was wonderful to see a real family in the White house again. I will remember her as a woman who loved her husband and children first and a woman of dignity.
