Saturday's Personality: Dean Winchester
Feb. 3rd, 2018 07:59 amAs anyone who watches Supernatural knows, the show is really all about Dean Winchester.

Dean (played by Jensen Ackles) is the older of the Winchester brothers, who are Hunters. Hunters hunt monsters so the rest of us can sleep at night. Hunting was the business of their mother and her family and their dad took it up when his wife was killed by a demon. Dean and Sam, his younger brother, were just children. Hunters do not make the best of parents so Dean served as parent to his brother while his dad was stalking and killing demons, vampires and all sorts of nasty things.
Sam went away to college but evil followed him and his girlfriend was killed by the same demon who killed their mother so he joined Dean in hunting down that demon and many more.
Dean loves greasy food, women and booze. He loves television, porn and Sam as well. He's pessimistic always and loyal to the death. He makes friends with some odd fellows: Benny the Vampire who pulls him from hell, Castiel the angel, and Crowley, a demon and the king of Hell. I really loved the interplay between Dean and the latter two. They could be quite humorous and sometimes almost slashy.

If you're looking for a new hero, Dean Winchester might be your guy! He is reluctant to be the hero but he is one, nonetheless.

Book: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Someone on Dreamwidth mentioned loving this book so I decided to give it a try. It's about a girl, her freshman year at college, writing fanfiction and boys.
I don't remember ever being so young at 18 and I'm not entirely sure I was. They seem so young and silly in some ways. I guess part of that is I never had all that dorm and sorority junk. I went to a Community college for 2 years, got married and went to a university the other 2 years as a 'townie'. I was a grown woman with a home and a husband. I had no time for much else.
The fanfiction bit is about a story that is a knockoff of Harry Potter, which I never really got into. Never saw the charm of grown women writing stories about a bunch of kids and their very strange teachers... and never could see Harry as anything more than a child.
So I did not actually identify with Cather OR her fanfiction so much, but it was still a nice book. The characters were sweet and so young and adorable.
