I read the entire book in one day. I have long been a fan of Ms. McCrumb and this one did not disappoint. It is the story of the Greenbrier Ghost. It a tale woven from truth and myth into a story that rivetted me to the page until the very end. If you are a fan of mysteries, of folktales, of Appalachian history then this is a book you'll enjoy It is told through young Zona's mother's eyes as she seeks justice for her murdered child. It is also told through the trial attorney who helped defend zona's killer, one of the first black attorneys in that area of West Virginia.
I met Ms. McCrumb on Sept 24 of this year in Mount Airy and she gave a wonderful talk about her research into the facts of this book.
