Reading Wednesday
Jul. 26th, 2017 11:09 amWhat I just finished:
Cloche and Dagger by Jenn Mckinlay
It's our July cozy at the Cozy Mystery Once a Month Book Club and it was cute. Cozy mysteries do not take deep thought and are not terribly graphic and usually have a little romance as well. This one is all that and I found it quite engaging. I will probably read pothers in the series.
What I am reading now:
Berried Secrets by Peg Cochran
The August cozy mystery and it's okay but not too crazy about it yet. The murdered person gets it in a cranberry bog in, you guessed it, Cranberry Cove.
Al Franken: Giant of the Senate by al Franken. Hubby and I both like Al and have since back in the days of SNL. So far, he is quite engaging. I sure do wish we had a man like Al representing our state. Nabbed this book for hubby and it's even a signed copy.
Death at the Little Bighorn: A New Look at Custer - His Tactics and the Tragic Decisions made at the Last Stand (wow, that's a mouthful)) by Phillip Thomas Tucker
It is what it says. I am completely fascinated by George Armstrong Custer and his life and death.
Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance
So far, this one is a bit annoying. Pardon my French but this is a book about a boy born into what my folks called white trash, the people of Appalachia (though I question that a little)who are redneck and don't really aspire to anything more than drinking beer, flying confederate flags and marrying their cousins - you know, Trump voters.
What's next:
Miss Julia Takes Over by Ann B. Ross
The foirst Miss Julia book made fall in love with Miss Julia, who comes into her own in her mid-sixties after her husband dies and she has to make her pown way in a small North Carolina town.
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
I want to see if it is as magical as I remember.
That's it!
