Day 11

In your own space, make a list of at least 3 things that you like about yourself. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

1. I am loyal to my fandoms - I've been on some of the same fandom for 12+ years and I still write and run fansites for them.

2. I am not a drama queen in fandom though I am rather high maintenance in real life.

3. I have been accused of corrupting het writers... and I see this as a good thing.

Day 12

What makes you fannish? And by that we mean, what is it about a tv show/movie/book/band/podcast/etc that takes you from, "Yeah, I like that," to "I need MOAR!!!" Is it a character? A plotline? The pretty? Subtext that’s just screaming to be acknowledged?

In your own space, tell us what it is that gets you to cross that line into fandom. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I had to think about this one for awhile.

What makes me want more? I tend to feel a sort of longing to be in that place with those characters. When I read Tolkien as a girl, I felt that way but I had no idea what a fandom was... this was 1974 or so. I was transported to Middle Earth.

The same for Star Wars though I've very seldom written any SW fiction. I watch the movies over and over, read the books and have a massive collection of stuff.

Babylon was a place I wanted to be, as is the marvel world.

Honestly, I think I love heroes in one form or another.

Day 13

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

1. The Empty Vessel By Zeedrippyvessel. It's a long retelling of The Lord of the Rings with Bronwyn dropped in from this day and age. It's a bit of Mary sue but it's also a delightful romp that will make you laugh out loud and cry a few times as well.

2. Wake me When It's Over by LadyHawksShadow is a Marty Stu and is a laugh out loud comedic romp through Middle Earth. It is complete and utter parody and a must read.

3. The Unspoken Arc by RuneDancer is a classic in LOTR fiction. It is beyond description. You simply must read it.

Day 14

In your own space, share your love for something fannish: a trope, cliché, kink, motif, theme, format, or fandom.

I decided to tell you of my love fro drabbles or 100 word stories. I love ficlets and a such but drabbles, to me, are tiny workshops in control. If I can tell you a story in 100 words and it makes sense, then I can tell you a much longer story without excess verbosity.

I love the writing style of Annie Proulx in Brokeback Mountain and Flannery O'Connor. Their work is raw and spare - it implies feelings that they manage to convey in few words. I only hope that my opwn work will be anywhere near that good.

And I feel that drabble writing is a good way for me to work on that.
