Part Eleven
Wu’s Secrets

Dr. Wu was back at his primary lab, which had been moved to an undisclosed location, a location that even he was not allowed to know. He was flown in on a plane that did not have windows and was escorted to the complex via a van without windows as well.

He was not alone – he had freezers and containers full of the future. The future of Jurassic World and maybe even the whole planet. He had not told Hoskins or anyone else all that he had done with cloning and hybridization.

He didn’t think the world was ready yet.

Chaos Calling

“Yes, I’m the one who wrote God Creates Dinosaurs. I’m Ian Malcolm.”

Claire had read his books. Tales of him being part of the team who came in to evaluate the safety of the original Jurassic Park were told in hushed tones here on the island. InGen people never wanted to hear the name of the man who told them that ‘Life finds a way.’

“What can I do for you?”

“We’ve heard sketchy reports about what happened there. I was curious about the new one, the hybrid one. Are there more of them?”

“No. Just the one.”

“Do they still make them all female?”

“Yes.”

“You do know the original ones bred, don’t you?”

Claire’s jaw dropped. Ian would have smiled at her if he’d seen her.

“You have to be mistaken.”

“Call Grant. Ask him about frog DNA. He’ll tell you.”

“You must be mistaken.”

Part Thirteen
The Birdman Calls


“This is Dr. Alan Grant. To whom am I speaking?”

Claire stared at the phone in her hand. The second legend from the old days to call in two days. What was going on?

“This is Claire Dearing, the new senior manager of Jurassic World.”

“Is Henry Wu still making monsters down there?”

“Dr. Wu is not at this facility now so I can’t answer that.”

“Rumor has it that your giant Indominus Rex had raptor blood, among other things. Are you all batshit crazy?”

Claire smiled to herself. She knew of Dr. Grant’s fondness and fear of the efficient killing machines and she shared his horror of what Wu had done. Objectively, though, the animal had been magnificent.

But she wasn’t going to tell him that.

“I don’t know the answer to that, Dr. Grant. You’d have to ask Dr. Wu yourself.”

“I would if I could find him. Is Owen Grady still working for you? I’ll bet he was pissed when he found out that thing was part raptor.”

So the story about Owen was true!

“Yes, sir. Mr. Grady does still work here. He is at the raptor enclosure. We have some young ones hatching soon and he wants to be there to imprint them.”

“Well, as long as he’s there, I don’t think things will get too out of hand. Tell him I said for him to watch his belly. That retractable will get you every time. ”

“I’ll do that, sir, and thanks for calling.”
