The Case of the Yankee Spinster
2. Favorite tense (past/present/future)?
Past
3. Favorite POV (first/second/third/etc)?
Third but I also like first person. Second... NEVER.
4. What are some themes you love writing about?
I like adventure, mystery, friendship,
5. What inspires you to write?
Writing is 99% perspiration these days, I'm afraid.
6. Thoughts on critique?
While I appreciate readers and feedback, I don't share my writing for someone who fancies themselves a writer to tell me how to do it. I like the person who betas for me to tell me what the story needs though.
7. Create a character on the spot…. NOW!
Um, no.
8. Is there a character you love writing for the most? The least? Why?
Not sure how to answer this one. I like to write any of my own creations, otherwise why would I create them. As for fanfiction, I can and do write any character I need to write and I try to make them the way they seem in the story canon.
9. A passage from a WIP.
The war was done and Sauron vanquished yet again. The time of the elves was nearly done as well. Celeborn knew his wife would leave Middle Earth soon to return home, a journey she’d never believed she would make after she had refused the pardon of the Valar so many, many years before.
This was the day he had dreaded for more years than he could remember. He would take her to the Grey Havens to sail with the last of the Ringbearers: Frodo, Elrond, Mithrandir. Even Cirdan himself would sail into the West.
But he would stay. He had chosen this place so many years before…
10. What are your strengths {wrt???} writing?
I do my research. My facts or canon are not sloppy. I like my style as well. I prefer celan simple prose over flowery wordiness so that is how I write. Even in ficiton, I see no reason top use 1000 words to say what 100 will say as well or better.
11. What are your weaknesses {???wrt} writing?
I'm lazy and put off writing until deadlines force me to do it. I am better at characterization than plot.
12. What’s your favorite place for writing resources?
Books about the subject and online resources.
13. Who are your favorite writers?
Tolkien, Poe, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Mary Renault, Annie Proulx, Flannery O'Connor, John Steinbeck, Stephen King... there are more, many more.
