The Lion King was the first movie I ever saw 6 times in the theater. Sara loved it so much that we went every chance we got. I think it is my all time favorite Disney movie. The opening music is wonderful and the movie nets lets you down. It has everything: humor, music, love, loyalty, evil, magic, jealousy, rage, murder, and Pumba and Timon with the meaning of life!

Jonathan Taylor Thomas was so cute as Simba. Who could resist him when he sang "I just can't wait to be King?" We already adored him from his role on Home Improvement and his other movies. James Earl Jones and Jeremy Irons, as heroic father and evil uncle were perfectly cast too. I can't see the Borgias now without calling the Pope Scar! Then there are the hyenas(Woopie Goldberg, Cheech Marin and Jim Cummings) and Simba's sidekicks(Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella). last but never least is Rowan Atkinson as Zazu and his songs are great!

The most outstanding thing is the music. Elton John did the music and there are some wonderful songs especially Circle of Life.

If you've never seen it, see it and remember "Hakuna Matata"!

Let me preface this post by saying that the things in this post are about people in my offline life and not you guys.

There are few enough people in the world you can count on when things are normal but let some terrible tragedy happen and you find that many of those will disappear also. Since our daughter died in 2005, friends and family avoid us as though they are scared that something awful will happen to them just by being near us. They say they will do anything you need or help you but they don’t mean a word of it. It’s lips service, plain and simple.

The same happened again in 2008 when I became very ill and was in the hospital for 6 weeks. I can count on little more than one hand the number of people who helped Larry and me out. I can tell you each and every one who did and did not. For the most part, Larry took care of me alone. He came to the hospital every day but 2 of those six weeks. He sat alone in Intensive Care Waiting for days on end, he went from my room to mama’s every day to make sure the morons at NC Baptist Hospital didn’t manage to kill either of us and believe me, they tried.

When he came home, it was just me and him. Still is.

Don’t get me wrong. There are family members and friends who have been there too. They are few but they have been good to us. The rest… well, like Forrest Gump, that’s all I have to say about that.
