Day Twenty-One
Apr. 21st, 2012 01:09 pmI'm sorry I've been a slacker posting the last few days. Been really wiped out and the kids came last night too. I didn't even get my fic post done yesterday so I'll make two of those today.
We made hamburgers and veggies skewers last night on the grill and they were yummy. Shina and I had enough veggies to feed half the county but the 5 of us ate quite a lot of them. Lydian had her kindergarten screening yesterday so she's all set to go to school this fall. I can't believe she's already that old. I remember seeing her when she was less than 5 minutes old. I'll have to see if any of the pics I shot Easter came out. She's a moving target to photograph!
I'm glad to see lots of my friends are doing the 100 Things challenge. I do like to see what other people think and are interested in. We have Latin America, people, places, occult things, movies, books and more! Join if you haven't. Go here for details and a link to the sign-up: http://jdbracknell.livejournal.com/165714.html It really is a no pressure thing.
MY state has a referendum on marriage this May. Why I don't know because NC is one of the states that has constitutionally defined marriage as union of man and woman. :/ I'm seeing signs all over supporting the referendum and it puzzles me how two men or two women marrying could possibly undermine my own marriage. My mama said once she it didn't make sense that God would punish gay people for loving one another. She figured love was love.
But then she was rather progressive for her generation in this area. She was pro-choice. She said when she was in high school in the early 50's, girls from 'good'(moneyed) families were able to get abortions but poor girls ended up with babies they didn't want or couldn't care for or they got dangerous backroom abortions. She felt that at least with abortions legal, poor women got to choose too.
I didn't think I had much to say but apparently I had more than I thought.
Have a good day, y'all!
