BANISHED TO IMLADRIS
“I do not want to go to Imladris with Elrond!” Erestor was livid. He had been Gil-galad’s secretary since the king was little more than a child and now, why now, he was being sent away! And to Imladris with that insufferable prat, Elrond.
“He needs you. No one has your skill at organizing and getting things done. No one.” Gil-galad meant every word but he was hoping that the flattery would convince Erestor to give Elrond a chance. He knew the two of them could be great friends. And both of them needed a friend right now.
“You promise I can return when his city is set up?” Erestor asked finally.
“Yes. I promise.”
So he went. He packed his trunk and moved to the Last Homely House with Elrond. He always intended to go home but months passed and then years then finally decades and he was still in Imladris. Elrond had become his dearest friend.
Finally a day came when Gil-galad was no more, falling on the day that they defeated Sauron. Erestor mourned as did Elrond. But they had one another and they got through it. Erestor was sure Gil-galad had known this day would come.
