Jamie Oliver - tell me this
Apr. 9th, 2010 11:51 pmAre you going to pay for all of this? We can't even pay teachers. How are we supposed to buy high dollar produce and such to be stuffed into milk cartons and thrown in the garbage?
The change has to be made at home, not at school. Kids have never eaten school food. Children in the US have been taught to hate veggies since the 1950s.
And pulease, don't blame everything on low income people being poor and stupid. It's not true. And many families that are eligible for food stamps are more able to feed their children fresh foods and such than other folks. That's what the program is for and some low income mothers I know do exactly that.
Again, do you think a government who wanted to classify ketchup (in the PROSPEROUS 80s yet) as a vegetable in the school lunch program is really going to pay for this?
