1.How did you get involved in the fandom? What was your first place/haven within the fandom?
A: One name: Orlando Bloom. I was hunting stuff about him and got into an Olrando Yahoo group and fanfiction grew from that.
2.When did you first read Tolkien's writing?
A: I think I was about 13 or so. I found The Hobbit and loved it.
3.What did you read first?
A: The Hobbit.
4.When did you first see the movies?
A: When they came out.
5.How did you come to be involved where you are now in the fandom?
A: Um, well, I was writing RPS about Orlando and the boys and also some character fiction. I belonged to two different groups and wanted a place to post any LOTR fiction I wrote so I began LOTR Adult Fiction.
6.What was the first fanfic story you read?
A: Actually it was in the Babylon 5 Crusade fandom. I don’t remember the name.
7.What was the first fanfic story you wrote? One called Forever Young. It’s here: http://www.ofelvesandmen.com/Stories/A/Alex/LOTR/A_H/F/ForeverYoung.htm
8.Name 3 of your favorite Tolkien characters. Why do you like them?
A: Gil-galad, Maeglin and Cirdan. GG was High King and he was wise and brave. I like that. Maeglin was mean and dark and I like that too. Cirdan was solitary and somehow mysterious.
9.What are 3 of your least favorite characters? Why?
A: Well, I don’t like Grima Wormtongue because he is icky. Saruman is evil and without honor. I once loved Erestor but fanon has made him silly.
10.What genres do you like to read the most?
A: I like sweet fiction…and I like canon. I think these days good genfic is my thing.
11.What Tolkien eras/cultures/events/etc. do you feel you have the strongest knowledge in?
A: I’m not expert on any of it but I love to write Silmarillion fiction mostly these days.
12.What areas do you feel you can help other authors with?
A: I am good at fact finding in Tolkien and I like to think I encourage other writers to trudge on even when they feel they aren’t maybe so good. I think anyone who wants to write should.
13.What do you feel are your weaknesses as a writer? What would you like to improve on?
A: I am too brief.
14.What Tolkien era/culture/events/etc. would you like to know more about?
A: Probably the First Age. There is a lot of ground covered in the Silmarillion.
15.What are you currently writing, what's your latest work in progress?
A: Since NaNo, I’ve only done a few challenge things. I am resting.
16.What is your favorite story you wrote? Why?
A: A very dark and brutal RPS piece called No Safe Place. Here it is: http://www.ofelvesandmen.com/Stories/A/Alex/RPStories/I_P/N/NoSafePlace/_ChapterList.htm
17.What is your least favorite story you wrote? Why?
A: This piece of ick I co wrote with someone. It’s called Snowbound. It’s horrid but here it is: http://www.ofelvesandmen.com/StoriesbyAuthor/A/Alex_RPHet.htm
18.What do you hope to accomplish in your future in the fandom?
A: I’d like to keep the fandom alive and make sure writers who choose have a nice friendly home and a place to archive their work at Of Elves and Men.
