FALLEN STAR

Manwë stood at the window of his home on top of the mountain and looked out. He felt that if he looked hard enough, he might see Melkor, see what evil his brother wrought upon this day.

“You cannot save him.” Varda was at his elbow and spoke before he even noticed she was there.

“He is my brother.” For him, that was enough. He needed no other reason or justification to try.

Varda nodded. She could not deter Manwë in his love for Melkor. She would not try.

And all of the world would suffer greatly for her failing.

PANIC RISING!

Rodney often wondered how much better Atlantis would run if he were in charge. He was certainly smarter than anyone he knew, with the possible exception of his sister and Samantha Carter. Okay, Carter had done an exceptional job running the place. Hi sister, well, he was glad she was back on Earth.

Then one of the lower levels flooded unexpectedly and an unknown ship appeared on their screens. Jenn said she had detected a new virus among some of the city personnel. Rodney felt panic rising at all these things.

Perhaps Atlantis *was* safer in the hands of Woolsley!
