Ponderings about LJ
Jun. 3rd, 2007 08:01 pmIn between cleaning and writing and reading, I have been thinking about the great LJ purge.
I have read many ideas and many solutions. I have read the 'apologies' from Six Apart which sound more like something entirely different to me. They have the tone of a rebuke to them. Why do we, the PAYING customers, have to change our interests to suit you? As long as we are not violating TOS, what business is it of theirs?
I have a paid account and I like LJ, as far as the way it works but I am seriously considering not giving them any more of my money. I wonder if every member of a fandom left, how many bloggers they'd have left.
There's not usually much to brag about where I live but when Sara was in elementary school, a new boy came to school. His parents were fundamentalists which is not so unusual here but the mother went to the library and looked around. She told the librarian (I prefer it to media specialist) that she wanted to come back and bring her minister and make a list of books they'd like removed from the shelves. The librarian invited them to remove themselves instead.
This is what LJ should have done... invited the lunatic fringe to go away. But no, they took up the cause of this questionable group and went on a witch hunt. I don't think everyone appreciated being treated like a group of criminals. None of us know who is next and what 'sin' we're going to be persecuted for.
Perhaps GJ or that odd Insane Journal is where I should go.
I'm just sayin...

EDT: They can't spell either-- 'scrutize'
Aren't they a TOS violation?
