Black Dahlia, Red Rose: The Crime, Corruption, and Cover-Up of America's Greatest Unsolved MurderBlack Dahlia, Red Rose: The Crime, Corruption, and Cover-Up of America's Greatest Unsolved Murder by Piu Marie Eatwell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Black Dahlia died around January 15, 1947 and her severed body was dumped in a vacant lot in Los Angeles.

This book was compelling and Ms. Eatwell convinced me that Mr. Hodel did not, in fact, kill Elizabeth Short. She documented her argument from page until the last page. She used every source at her disposal to give us a glimpse into the aftermath of the death of 22 year old Elizabeth Short and a look into the mind of the sociopath who she believes (and she convinced me) killed her. She tells us WHY the case has never been solved and why it's not likely ever be.

The book does not have the grisly photos - only one of the body and it is covered but she does detail the horrors that were visited upon the poor girl though she also does not dwell overmuch on those. This is a detective story, plain and simple.

If you have an interest in the case, it's a must read.
