Writer's meme

1. Describe yourself how you would describe a character you’re introducing
“Being a creature of habit, she flipped on the light and turned on the monitor to begin her day…”

2. Is there any specific ritual you go through while/before/after your writing?
No

3. What is your absolute favorite kind of fic to write?
I don’t know the answer to that one. I probably enjoy drabbles the most these days.

4. Are there any other fic writers you admire? If so, who and why?
Many, too many to name.

5. How many words can you write if you sit down and concentrate intensely for an hour?
Not something I ever gave any thought to but at least a thousand.

6. First fic/pairing you wrote for? (If no pairing, describe the plot)
Legolas and Aragorn.

7. Inspiration, time, or motivation. Choose two.
Huh? Choose them for what? Inspiration was the driving force in the beginning but not so much any more. I’m motivated by deadlines mostly now.

8. Why do you choose to write?
For the same reason I breathe, I have to.

9. Do you ever have plans to write anything other than fic?
Original fiction maybe.

10. What inspires you the most?
A word, a song, a photo – something that triggers an idea

11. Weirdest thing you’ve ever written/thought about writing/etc.?
Celeborn’s Book, a long series that is entirely smut.

12. A fix you wish you had written better, and why?
I am not sure there is anything. Maybe my original story for the only Namowrimo that I did.

13. Favorite fic from another author?
Probably “Ansereg” from Tyellas though it is as dark as hell itself.

14. Your favorite side pairings to put in?
I like canon pairings as side pairings

15. Your guilty writing pleasure?
Horror. Deep, dark horror.

16. Do you have structured ideas of how your story is supposed to go, or make it up as you write?
I begin and the characters take over. I have tried to make outlines and such but the characters always do as they please in the end.

17. Would you describe yourself as a fast writer?
Yes.

18. How old were you when you started writing?
I began writing a little as a high school girl.

19. Why did you start writing?
I always told stories in my head. I just decided to write them down.

20. 4 sentences from your work that you’re proud of.

“Son, the Bible says there’ll always be wars and rumors of wars until the end of time. It’s a true thing. Wars have taken more from me than anything other than time. I lost my family to war when I was a boy, my best friend to the Indian Wars and a grandson to the Great War. War is never a good thing, no matter how many people tell you it is. Never forget that.”

He never had. He stood there in the cold January wind and thought about his grandpa’s words. Another war was coming. And soon too, if the television and papers were telling the truth. Another one of Grandpa’s Matt’s children would go to this one too. His own granddaughter, Laura, would go to the Middle East.

He remembered one more thing his grandpa had said to him too.

“Every night when you say your prayers, pray for peace, boy. Every night.”

And Billy did.
