Same shit...

Different day!

I thought I'd blather a bit. About this and that.

I must be the only person who doesn't really give a shit. I've been voting since I was 18 and I will be perfectly frank. Each and every president has sucked since I was old enough to vote, regardless of his party. I have listened to thse men... THEY SAY NOTHING! NOTHING! And I have a problem with the esteemed senator from my very own state. He is what is known as a shyster. He's a fucking ambulance chaser! Maybe if Kerry gets elected, he'll have the good graces not to die!

Nuff of that shit.

While I am outraged, I am not surprised. I don't really know where people get the impression that they can say what they want to on the internet. The Feebs and the Secret Service google too! It's not protected by any law that I can find. Implied laws are well, implied... and so not real. Our freedoms were revoked in the early 80's when the Reagan administration decided that illegal search and seizures weren't illegal anymore. 1984 came to pass and we all didn't even seem to notice. Big Brother watches always.

I think I want to be an elf when I grow up

Or maybe a werewolf.

I have been following Orchyd's reading of the Anita Blake novels by Laurell K. Hamilton and was musing over why I like reading them and writing in Anitaverse. I started reading them several years ago, around 2000 I guess. I stumbled across them in a Waldenbooks and picked one up. They are fun, one long tale of monsters and blood and sex. What's not to like?

The one character that I am NOT nuts about is Anita herself. She is at her worst, Mary Sueish and her best, Lara Croftish... hm, maybe they're the same. She is violent, stubborn, and forces other people to live by her standards even when she doesn't. Sometimes I wonder if LKH meant to make her so unlikable.

The boys on the other hand, are delgihtful. Jean-Claude, tightly controlled Master of the City, who mutes his own power and ambition to suit Anita. Asher, his exlover and Second, who he doesnt touch because Anita doesn't want him to. There's Jason. werewolf and all around Joe College type. He's always trying to get in Anita's pants. Damien, Anita's redhaired vampire servant who was once a viking. Nathaniel, beautiful submissive wereleopard who is Anita's 'wife ' since he keeps house for her. Micah, mysterious and sexy leopard leader who is supposedly Anita's soul mate. Richard, head of the werewolf pack and as stubborn and annoying as Anita.

They do grow as the series moves along and though it started as a suspenseful series, it is now more about relationships and love and maybe on another level, what it means to be human.

I like to write in Anitaverse because there are so many slashy males with tales to tell. LKH is vague in detail on many of them... giving us glimpses into their pasts. I just have to run with that.

Now if LKH would slash them too! Maybe next book!
