Late Night Broadcast

A real update-ish.

Got my AinA done tonight! I need to tweak and proof it then have it betaed then post it. For some reason, it's been a tough one for me. I also decided on my OEAM Big Bang fic: Tolkien! I shall write about Cirdan.

We are beginning to clean out Mama's house though it is tough work. It makes my heart hurt to even go there and it's gotten to be such a mess since no one's ben there much since she died. It is dirty and has mice, the power went off and the fridge was a mess and there is mold and mildew. Anyone wanna help?

I brought Mama's sunrise photos home with me to get a new book for. Some of them are breathtaking! I washed a trash bag full of towels for shina and 6 or 7 tanks tops for my aunt. Ther dryer is still going.

I wrote to Sara's School this week about how they ignored us and never got in contact with us about the art award we had given from 2006-2009. When I tried to contact the art teacher by email as I always had, she nver answered me. We also had a cabinet built that THEY requested for artwork from the students and it's sitting empty and in the sunlight, whic has ruined the memoria plaque we had made. When we got home last night, the principal had left me a message but I'm not going to return his call. I said what I wanted to say and I wash my hands of them.

To Whom It May Concern,

My daughter Sara Williams was a student at Surry Central High School. She was killed in accident in June 2005. The following year, her father and I set up a small monetary gift to be given annually to a student at Surry Central who was most helpful in promoting the visual arts at Surry Central because this was something that Sara had mentioned often and she was proud to be an officer of the Art Club for the upcoming year. We also donated the funds to build an art case to display the students’ work in the main lobby so it would not be damaged by handling or the environment.

We did the award in 2006, 2007 and even in 2008, when my husband left me only a few days out of ICU to speak at Awards Day and give a student the reward and the plaque that we had made each year. Larry gave the award again in 2009 when I was caring for my ill mother.

In 2010, I wrote to Mrs. Via, using the two email addresses we had for her in the previous year and asked her which student would be chosen to receive the award that year. I was excited. I had heard great things about the art department. This was in early May. I never got any answer from her. None at all. I did not follow up since to me it was clear she simply did not care enough to get back to me.

We were extremely disappointed in Surry Central. The next year, we did not make the offer.

In the meantime, we also have heard from several people that the art display case is unused and fading in a corner where the sunlight is drying it out.

We really do appreciate this. It’s nice to know that Surry Central High School remembers its students in such a respectful manner. I can’t say I was surprised but I can say that both my husband, myself and many of Sara’s friends and family are disappointed and saddened by the shabby way that our daughter’s memory has been treated at her own high school.
I’m not asking anyone to do anything. I just wanted to make sure that all of you know that we have not forgotten, nor will we.

Damn! It's after 2 am... I think I'll head to be soon. My aunt is coming for lunch and I have to take a photo of my hometown for my 100 Photo meme. Those of you who have been here know what a big town it is!

Night, all!
