1) What author do you own the most books by?
John D. MacDonald I think. The very old Travis McGee novels. I can’t find them in the basement but they are there.

2) What book do you own the most copies of?
Lord of the Rings probably


3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions? It's better than using your for you’re!

4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
Ranger in the Stephanie Plum Novels and Asher in the Anita Blake series though I doubt it’s much of a secret.

5) What book have you read the most times in your life (excluding picture books read to children; i.e., Goodnight Moon does not count)?
The Persian Boy

6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
No idea.

7) What is the worst book you've read in the past year?
I don’t read books I don’t like… I just stop and pick up another book.

8) What is the best book you've read in the past year?
The Seven Daughters of Eve by Bryan Sykes.

9) If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
Probably won’t tag anyone but everyone should read LOTR.

10) Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for Literature?
No idea. Perhaps Tolkien for creating a whole mythology.

11) What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
Hmmm…parts of the Silmarillion I think.

12) What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
The Stephanie Plum novels.

13) Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.
Umm, not sure I’ve ever dreamed of one at all.

14) What is the most lowbrow book you've read as an adult?
Lowbrow? Reading is reading… but maybe some of the detective books.

15) What is the most difficult book you've ever read?
The Silmarillion. I got way more out of the audio book.

16) What is the most obscure Shakespeare play you've seen?
Not seen any obscure ones, mostly just the biggies.

17) Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
French or Russian what?

18) Roth or Updike?
Roth though I will never see liver the same.

19) David Sedaris or Dave Eggers?
Not read them.

20) Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer?
Oh gosh…. Shakespeare with Chaucer in close second. I’ve read very little Milton.

Austen

22) What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Well, not so much a gap in reading as a gap in memory. I have read so many books that I’ve forgotten a lot of them.

23) What is your favorite novel?
The Persian Boy

24) Play?
Macbeth

25) Poem?
John Donne’s Death Be Not Proud

26) Essay?
One of Ernie Pyle’s essays about the D-day invasion of Normandy that I read in high school.

27) Short story?
I can’t choose. I love short stories. Maybe Brokeback Mountain. I read it wayyyyy before it was a movie.

28) Work of nonfiction?
I love Custer Biographies.

29) Who is your favorite writer?
Um, writers, I think. Tolkien and Mary Renault are the tops.

30) Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
Probably J.K. Rowling or Anne Rice

31) What is your desert island book?
LotR I think

32) And... what are you reading right now?
The Link, about this 45 million year old primate fossil found in Germany.
