SAVING THE KITTEN
Jean-Claude was worried about Nathaniel and Jason. The wereleopard had left the club with someone that none of them knew and had not yet come home. Jason had gone out to hunt him. That was yesterday and when he’d risen, he found that both were now missing.
There was a noise and commotion at the back door of the club. What he saw appalled him. Jason stood in torn and ragged clothes, bloodied capapie, and he carried a naked, bloody Nathaniel in his arms.
“What—”
Jason interrupted. “He hooked up with a chick a little too much like Raina. I think this one meant to have him for a meal. She was carving him up.” He laid Nathaniel down; the wounds were still there but had begun to heal. Jean-Claude shivered as he watched the werewolf lick Nathaniel’s wounds, crooning softly to him as he did so.
Nathaniel stirred, trying to push Jason away until he opened his eyes, saw that he wasn’t being eaten but cleaned. He reached a bloodied hand down and touched Jason’s short blond hair as if to comfort himself.
“Are *you* hurt?” Jean-Claude asked.
Jason grinned. “It’s not my blood.”
Jean-Claude smiled and nodded.
