This song is as if Jackson Browne crawled inside my head and wrote what he saw. It almost took my breath away when I heard it the first time in 1974. I was 14. It still almost takes my breath away.

In my early years I hid my tears
And passed my days alone

In books and films and songs
Now there's a world of illusion and fantasy
In the place where the real world belongs
