1. Comment on this entry saying Rhubarb!, and I'll pick three things from you profile interests. If you don't have any listed, link your intro post or tags, and I'll choose three of your fandoms or other interests you've mentioned.
2. Make a post in your journal or comment here and talk about the words or phrases I picked!
My answers to their picks:
classic rock - I was a kid during the classic rock era and even though it dates me, it's MY rock and roll. Nothing beats the feeling of hearing a classic song and remembering the feeling you had when you first heard it. Favorite bands and acts - The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and more and more. The music seems to have an odd innocence that we've lost since. We all still believed that we could change the world and we could live in brotherhood.
elves - Tolkien elves to be specific! I fell in love with elves when I was 12 or so and read The Hobbit. They seemed to be the perfect beings! LOTR came next and I was completely in love. Peter Jackson's elves cemented it - I fell in love with the melancholy of their immortality, among other things, plus Legolas was just hot! No other elves have ever really interested me. I do want to dismember the Elf on a Shelf and the whole stupid idea.
watching old TV shows - I am old! They're just tv shows from my childhood! Actually some of my old faves were shows that were old when I was a kid - I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners come to mind. I used to watch The Honeymooners after the late news with my dad... we'd laugh loud enough to keep Mama awake in the other room. H8ubby and I have bought several sets of old shows to watch on DVD - The Flintstones, The Man From UNCLE, Batman, Star Trek, Superman to name a few. Some hold up well, some don't.
I look forward to your answers so Rhubarb me!

Orlando Bloom as Legolas was my very first celebrity crush. But only as Legolas! He's not nearly so hot as anybody else, lol. (And also yeah, elf on a shelf can go in the trash forever.) I do also like the kind of elf where elf and fairy are maybe the same word, but in the Pratchettian sense, in the "scary, dangerous, not to be messed with" sense.
That's sweet about the old shows. <3 I'm just a bit too young for those, I think, but it is always fun revisiting things from when you were a kid. (He-Man does *not* watch well these days, lol.)

Horses: I love horses! Always have, ever since I was a toddler. I was born horse-crazy. They kept me sane and sober during my teen years because if my old mare smelled *any* smoke on me or any liquor or beer on my breath or if I seemed 'off', she'd turn from me until she decided I had learned my lesson. It was odd. Wile my parents were very strict, straight-laced and believed in 'tough love', I think they expected me to be stupid on occasion because, you know, kids. But my old mare had zero tolerance for it, and I loved her more than I loved any idea of being cool or partying. Go figure, eh?
Hockey: This is one of the few sports I really follow. Again, when I was little (grade school) one of my great-uncles would tell the story about how he and my great-grandfather had seen Gordie Howe play in Omaha. He'd show me an old scrapbook of clippings and tell me all about it (yet something else we have lost: sitting around and listening to the elders of our families tell our family history) and I listened *hard*. So I am mostly a Detroit Red Wings fan but I love a lot of other teams/players too. Ironically, I never got to see any games growing up but I have managed to attend a scant few games as an adult.
PS. I don't know what happened to the scrapbook. Probably one of my older male cousins got it but I don't know who.
