NaBloPoMo - Day 10

10) Write about your first fandom crush(es). Post a picture of them if you can.
My first- first fandom crush was Chekov when I was about 6 or 7 in the 60s! I loved the show and watched it with my dad every week.

I guess the biggest ones are Luke and Han (from 1977). I fell for the pretty blond Luke when I laid eyes on him. I wanted to be Leia (I still do). and Han was, well, Han.

and Legolas. I think I loved Legolas before I ever saw him. I loved him when I read the books back in the 70s. He was the first one there was fanfic about, I think.

All the prompts:

1) It's the first day of NaBloPoMo! Share something that makes you laugh.

2) When did you create your LJ, and what brought you here? How did you get your username? Has it changed?

3) What show from your childhood would you love to bring back?

4) What was your first fandom love(s)? Your first ship(s)?

5) Who is your favorite villain? (TV, movie, book, etc.)

6) What's your favorite new autumn TV show?

7) What movie are you most looking forward to this holiday season? (Link to a trailer so we can experience the impending awesomeness too!)

8) Okay. Let's be real. We all have lives outside of LJ/DW. What else are you obsessed with, love to do, or particularly good at, that most bloggers don't know about?

9) Post a photo that you love.

10) Write about your first fandom crush(es). Post a picture of them if you can!

11) Who is your favorite sidekick? (bad and/or good)

12) The holidays are coming. Which means good food. Share a recipe for a dish you love to enjoy during the Christmas season. (So we can enjoy it too!)

13) What's a special tradition in your family that makes the holiday season special to you?

14) We're on a roll with the holiday stuff. So… what's your favorite holiday movie or TV episode?

15) We're halfway there! Just pimp something you've made and/or written. (And if you haven't written/made anything, pimp something from someone else that you love!)

16) What's a TV show you don't particularly like any more, but still watch for some reason? Why? (If you're smarter than most of us, which show did you want to love, but gave up on?)

17) What movie, book, or TV episode makes you cry without fail? (Or get wibbly, if you're not a crier.)

18) Take a minute or two and share five good/thankful things of today, uncut.

19) List FIVE of your TEN BEST things!

20) Share a random thought.

21) What about LJ/DW keeps you coming back (or never leaving)? (Because let's be honest, this place is old, BUT WE ALL LOVE IT ANYWAY.)

22) Write a list of the "treasures" in your life. How is your life "rich" because of these things?

23) Go back in the old LJ days and find an old meme to do--if you're newer, just do any random meme.

24) List 10 ways that you like to show/give encouragement to people when they are in need.

25) It's officially one month till Christmas! Post your favourite holiday song.

26) List the LJ/DW friends that you have actually met in person. What did you do when you got together?

27) Favourite holiday Candy, favourite holiday Coffee, favourite holiday Crush!

28) What people are you most thankful for? Why?

29) Are you still friends/keep in tough with your very first LJ friends? Who are they? For how long now?

30) We started the month with something funny. Send us off with something else that tickles your funny bone!

Spock instead of Chekov, and I'm not sure which one came first, him or Sherlock Holmes. Frodo from the books was later. Bagheera from The Jungle Books was in there somewhere.

I've loved Legolas from the time I read The Fellowship of the Ring when I was 11 (way back in 1976, lol) and I still love him now. I was so pleased with the way Orlando Bloom played him, so many times I've fallen in love with characters in books and then been so disappointed when the character was brought to life in film or tv, either because of the actor or the way the character was portrayed.

I think the first time I really noticed a character on screen who I could consider as a fandom Crush was back when Enid Blyton's Famous Five was televised on British TV in the 70s, I loved the character of Dick, he was the younger brother to always-in-charge Julian and had a certain vulnerability which couldn't really be expressed because of the girls, I remember that all these years later, lol. I can't even remember the actors name now!

As for Luke, yes, me too.

It certainly was. I loved all the characters, having loved the books from the first time I read them (The Hobbit when I was ten and LOTR when I was 11) I just adored the characters. It's always a fear when they make movies out of books you love that either they won't do the story justice, or that the characters on screen won't live up to ones in the books. I thought the movies did both beautifully, they didn't disappoint in either aspect and the locations were spectacular. On top of it all, I had the opportunity to visit New Zealand in 2015, both North and South Islands and Hobbiton, which didn't disappoint either!
