A note on Alexander

I realize I'm a little late but I did want to say my piece about Alexander. I liked it a lot. It was not perfect and it did gloss over large amounts of history. It was a bit wordy at times and it did drag here and there.
BUT I think Oliver Stone did a decent job of making a legend into a man, with failings and feelings. He was perhaps too ambitious in trying to capture as much as he could in his limited amount of time.
When people start talking about how the movie is just a showcase for 'gay Alexander,' I don't see where they get it. I have read quite a bit and studied quite a bit. It seems rather a fact that Alexander and Hephaestion were most likely lovers and great friends, which is what I saw more in this film than any other point.
Alexander was a powerful and ambitious man. He was surrounded by people with ulterior motives for much that they did. Even his own mother. In a world like this, he had one person who, to paraphrase, loved him for himself alone. I think this is the story that Stone chose to tell. And this story, he told well.
I can look for facts in a history book. I wanted heart... and that I found.
