Day 3 - Nefertiti

Nefertiti

Nefertiti was a queen of Egypt around 1330 BC. She and her husband worshipped one god, Aten, a departure from previous worship of many gods. She gave birth to 6 daughters and it is possible that she ruled Egypt as Pharaoh as well. It is believed that she is perhaps Pharaoh Neferneferuaten, part of the 18th dynasty. Her husband was the father of King Tut as well.
She is maybe best known for the bust of her found in the workshop of sculptor Thutmose. This sculpture is displayed today in the Neues Museum in Berlin. Half a million people per year come to visit her there. I saw it when we were in Berlin in May of last year and she is breathtaking.
