Summary: Life with Owen Grady as told from several POVs.

Part Six
Thanks to Dr. Grant

Owen knew the moment that he knew he wanted to know all about dinosaurs – the day Alan Grant scared the living shit out of him.

He’d gone to the dig in Montana just to see what all the fuss was about. Who cared about velociraptors when there were t-rexes to talk about? Grant was excited about some dumb raptor they’d found with their radar. Owen made fun it.

After Grant had told him just what a raptor could do to him, he was hooked. He had to know more. He studied them every chance he got, learning all he could. He’d gone into the Navy when the war had started but when it was done, he was thrilled that Masrani had offered him a job on Isla Nublar.

Here he was! Jurassic World with his own paddock of raptors! Could life be any better? What would Alan Grant think now?

True Blood had its premier last night and it was dreadful. The writers had written themselves into a corner so they did a time jump ahead a year. I was hoping that this might actually improve the show. The story lines last year were stupid and guess what? They're stupid again!

The only reason I can figure that anyone watches it is either they hope it will improve OR they just want to see all the annoying sex scenes.

Falling Skies is War of the Worlds meets Battlestar Galactica. Been there and done that and didn't like those either.

I've got over 21,000 words now! I should finish this weekend hopefully and that'll give me a day or two to clean it up and put it together before sending the rough draft to the [ profile] scifibigbang mods for artist signups.

Last year, my artist wouldn't even return emails and I ended up doing artwork myself so suffice it to say I really don't give much of a crap about the artist part one way or the other. I did get great art the year before that and the artist was very nice.

I cleaned and did laundry and all sorts of things yesterday so maybe there won't be much work for the weekend other than writing, cooking and watering a few plants. Maybe watch some tv since we seem to have a free HBO weekend. Maybe we can see the True Blood season premier free.

Speaking of True Blood, I just finished reading the latest book, Dead Reckoning and I have to say that I seriously like the books better than the TV show. I really don't like the add ons: Tara and Lafayette especially. I have no love for Eric either and I guess I'm the only person in america who does not find him attractive. Bill is better looking to me but Sam is my guy! I hope in the very end someday down the road, Sookie ends up with Sam Merlotte. I'd take a nice, warm furry any day over a cold ass vampire!

I got Janet Evanovich's new Stephanie Plum book Friday. I'll start it next. I have to say that I really enjoy those... they're just fun. Grandma Mazur is worth reading them for. And Lula... Carl the Monkey though he seems to have followed Diesel to Salem for that series.

Well, I've wasted enough time. Back to the story! Have a lovely weekend, all my pretties! :)

Yay! I can see the end in sight. I just need to write it! I thas to be done June 30 and rough draft turned in on July 1.

I am thinking of writing some original work for publication. I will think about it again when this challenge is done. I still have to sign up for Slashy Santa too. Then there is a pirate who has waited for years.

Today was movie day and we went to see Mr. Popper's Penguins. It was very cute. I'm no Jim Carey fan but I went for the penguins. We ate fish afterwards... what did you expect? I do enjoy our little evenings out. Do you know there is very little in the theaters but kid movies? I like them though so no problem.

The study is still a huge mess but the mess is getting smaller slowly. I have sent tons of books to Goodwill, listed a bunch for trade at PBS, and a ton for sale at Amazon. I haven't made a dent in them!!! I may list a few here for postage only and see if any of you want them but that usually is a waste of time. I've got a bunch of photo's ready to have printed and frames for my new shelves in the living room too. I'll make some photos when everything is done. Or y'all can just come visit!

I think that is iot for now. Gotta write a bit more and watch some TV with Larry.

The story is coming along. I should have most if not all done by the June 30 deadline. I know where it's going and most of how to get there so it's just a matter of writing. IF the chareacters don't change up on me. Sometimes they do that rather unexpectedly.

Hmm... what else? We saw Kung Fu Panda 2. It was cute. We saw POTC4 and I liked it better than 3, actually though I did miss Will Turner. I have to say Penelope Cruz is not a favorite of mine. Also saw X-men: First Class and it was ehhh. I liked the others better, to be honest. All the others. Mystique was interesting almost.

I'm still working on my study... there are boxes and stacks of books all over the place. I want it done NOW! But I'm not able to work in it as much I need to. I've sold and traded and given away tons of books but you can't even tell they're gone! Sheesh! [ profile] luin77, Come back!!!

Well, it's back to the SG-1 and their latest adventure for me! Have a nice Father's Day.

Okay, so I failed terribly at this this month!

June is a tough month at my house. Many bad anniversaries and such.

AND I have to get my 25,000 words done by June 30. I've got right around 13,000 so it's not going badly at all. I just am having one of those distracted kind of days. I keep wandering away for food or to pester Larry and ask what he's doing. Or popping over to FB to play Zuma Blitz and shoot balls out of a frog's mouth!

Speaking of FB, I can barely navigate there at all. It just sits and uses up all my desktop until I have nothing loading. I've run antivirus and I'm clean, anti-spyware and found none. My browser is out of date so maybe it's that. Once there were two copies of Flash player trying to run at the same time. So it could be that too I suppose.

Anyone else having problems with FB?

Summer is simply too hot for me! I like 70s to mid 80s like this week but we normally have one heat wave after another here with these obscenely high humidity levels. Hot sucks! (So does cold but I'll whine about it when it's winter time.)

I need to sign up for Slashy Santa I suppose. I am so rusty writing LOTR these days.

Well, that's all I know.

I am very slack, am I not?

Today was busy too. Ran some errands, worked on my story, made dinner, finished a book, did laundry and puttered around a bit. Hoping to get some work done in the study tomorrow and maybe a few chapters on my story.

It's late and I'm tired so goodnight!

Well, I missed yesterday but I shall continue just the same. I finally caught up on my reading this weekend. I finsihed The Silmarillion and The Hound of the Baskervilles for my reading groups. I got my post for The Silmarillion ready for tomorrow and I got a challenge up for OEAM Writer's Circle too. I have over 4000 words on [ profile] scifibigbang done also but I'd like to get a thousand a day until it's done so hopefully by the end of tomorrow, I'll have 6000 since I didn't write much today or yesterday.

That's about it too! Night!

I have no theme tonight... well, I might find one as I write but not at the beginning. Been a long day but a busy one.

I decided to try to post every day this month too. It's fun and a good way to keep up with everyone. The subject at NabloPomo was 'fan' so I guess I'll use it as a jumping off point. Everyday I will include some snippet of fannishness among the blahness of my regular daily post.

All the news that fit to print )
