Day 10

In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (More than one is okay, too.) Tell us about it, tell us why you love it, give us some examples and recs. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

No idea what to post for this one. I'm not eve sure wth a trope is and as far as I know, I have no cliche, kinks or themes... well, maybe humor. I like humor. Life sucks too much to read sadass fic too. I don't watch sad movies or read sad books either, as a rule.

Wake Me When it's Over by LadyHawkShadow - a spoof of Marty Stu and Mary Sue.
Forever - Give or Take by Ignoble Bard - Gil-galad and Celebrimbor have a great life together in Aman, until a certain person from the past shows up.

Day 11
In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.M

I'm sort of at a loss here. My favorite creators probably stopped 10 years ago and I stopped reading most fanfiction 10 years ago as well. I like some artists and some writers but I mostly dabble in hosting and doing fannish stuff rather than being so involved in creating and readiung any more.

I think I mentioned one old fave last year so I'll mention a different one this year. The story is RPS though it's all AU and very original in a world of it's own. It's called Prophecy, Destiny and Design by Pecos. You can find it here: http://www.blueskydancers.com/adult/pecos_fiction.htm It's novel length as well and there may or may not be a sequel done.

Of Elves and Men

Everything OEAM! It was originally an LOTR site but over the last 13 years it has grown and expanded and just this fall, we went live with a brand new self upload site.

Here are the links to our various sites:
Of Elves and Men: a multi-fandom self upload archive. Check it out!
Livejournal|Dreamwidth Communities - The places where all OEAM news and info are shared.
We still have several old Yahoo groups that you will find listed on the footer of the homepage.
We also have a Cafe Press Store
And a brand new Tumblr page, too, though I still have no clue what to do with it.

Come visit one and all of our pages. They are all up and running with LOTS of help of many dedicated people over many years.

Day 13
In your own space, write about a moment in fandom that meant a lot to you. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

In June 2005, my 16 year old daughter was killed in an auto accident. The outpouring of love and concern from the OEAM fandom was amazing. I got cards, letters, flowers, phone calls, songs, poetry, stories and so m,uch love from so many people that there aren't sufficient words to thanks them all That is what fandom has done for me. That's why I don't just throw in the towel and leave it.

Day 14
Go forth and commit an act of kindness. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it, tell us about it if you’re comfortable doing so.

Well, I do always try to do things for my family and friends. I suppose those kindnesses as much for me as for them but that's the way kindness works. In particular, I made jenny a fresh cup of coffee while she's working at the table.

Dear Star Wars,

Besides my hubby and my sweet departed daughter, you are the one constant love of my life. I still remember the complete awe I felt when I saw that Imperial Star Destroyer fly over my head the first time in May 1977. Then there was cute little Luke and dashing Han and a Princess who was a snarky smartass as all princesses should be.

I remember waiting and waiting for more... and the rumors of who Luke's father was, rumors of Leia being his sister and them all coming true.

Then life happened. I finished high school, went to college, had a child and became ill. During my illness, I spent a lot of time reading and watching videos. Of course I had managed to nab the Star Wars trilogy when it came out on video and I watched it endlessly while I was sick... just the sound of the music soothed me. You rescued me from my own doom by giving me something to think about. A few years later, I found the extended universe and learned to love you all over once again as i went on adventures with Luke and the rest... and saw them marry, form a government based on freedom.

I even loved the second trilogies in a way - they were all new material that no one had seen before and there was plenty of good in with some pretty awful. Who couldn't love the dear Queen and handsome Obi-wan?

When Disney acquired you, I was and still am apprehensive. The Extended universe had some great characters and story lines which seem to have been tossed aside for some trite retelling of the original story...I was not thrilled with The Force Awakens. It was same old/same old. BUT then Disney surprised me with Rogue One.

I have fallen in love all over again with the idea of freedom and hope.

May the Force be with us all!

Love always,
